This was absolutely a wonderful experience. The staff were so courteous and friendly. The food was delicious. The onsen was a true delight. The room was extremely clean. As an American from the states, this was my first stay at a ryokan and the staff explained everything very well (there’s an informative pamphlet provided to you in your room). It’s super easy to get to once you get off the train in Gora (just take a right once you leave the station and go under the tunnel and the place will be up the street on the right). I so enjoyed this first time ryokan experience. I would definitely return to this establishment if I make it out to Hakone again!

This is a great traditional style inn. Our room was comfortable and the food was incredible. We stayed 2 nights and both nights itwas the Kaiseki style meal. Mainly fish with one meat course. The quality was excellent. Breakfast was a very good, Japanese style meal. We also took advantage of the private onsen, which could be reserved at the reception.

Awesome full-course Japanese dinner and traditional breakfast. Private onsen included. Rooms with private bathroom and spacious. Awesome staffs!! We were there with small kids and will definitely get back next time in town.

If you're looking for a more traditional stay with hot spring and Japanese style breakfast and dinner, Gorankan would be your choice. Staff are all very friendly and the location is like 3 mins walking distance to the cable car Station. Overall a very pleasant stay. Just be prepared the check-in time is strictly 3pm. Before that you can't find anyone at the reception. We had to carry our bags through some steps crossing the tunnel twice as the door was closed and no one was there at the reception.

Super cleannproperty and authentic vibe. The staff was exceptionally friendly and polite. The kaiseki was amazing.

2 parking lot upfront, this hotel locates right outside the gora station. Very convenient. Spa amenity is good.

I had a wonderful time here, the atmosphere was quiet and felt very traditional. The baths were wonderful, and I enjoyed many long soaks over my two day stay. The food was absolutely incredible, there was so much but I couldn't stop eating it. The variety of dishes and care in which they were presented was a truly memorable experience and I will definitely go back. The location is quite close to Gora station and the cable car, and a short (but steep) walk up the hill to Hakone Park, which was absolutely stunning with fall colors.

Clean room, great service, excellent food

This was a unique and wonderful experience. We had never experienced a ryokan, but we enjoyed it for a night. Room gives a Zen vibe, and once we got the AC going, the heat was tolerable. But the rest of the hotel was quite warm! Dinner was fun, elaborate. Glad we wore the provided robes because no one was in street clothes. We rented the private spa, and that was relaxing. Keep in mind there is no shower in your room. Also, there are few amenities in this town, so plan ahead if you require snacks.

Traditional Japanese hospitality in a lovely setting. The hotel was very simple to reach and the staff was super accommodating to make my stay comfortable and delightful. The meals are a real luxury and served with a full explanation and always a smile!

A lovely stay at a family run ryokan very near Gora station. It is not luxurious accommodation by any means but the staff are very sweet and kind. The place is a little rustic but the food is amazing!! Actually they could cut down on a few dishes and it would still be too much to eat! The private onsen was also much appreciated as there is no shower in the room. All in all, I had a relaxing time in Gorakan.

Vores familie på fire (med to drenge på 11 og 14). Nød opholdet som er hele oplevelsen værd. Lækkert traditionelt japansk mad (aften og morgen) samt godt bade (onsen). Hotellet ligger lige ved Gore station og er perfekt udgangspunkt for en videre tur op på bjerget før der kommer for mange. Vi nød alle opholdet og at bo på traditionelt japansk. Personalet er menget venlige og virkeligt søde.

Onsen facilities are a bit old but clean as a whole. Dinner is very good. Service is outstanding.

Onsen, nice traditional room and good food

다음에 또 가고 싶다. 그런데 료칸은 추울 때는 안 가야겠다. 우리가 갔을 때 많이 춥고 눈도 왔다. 작은 벽걸이 에어컨 하나로 자야해서 추웠다. 낮에도 춥고 밤에도 춥다. 난 잠옷을 1겹 입었는데, 2겹 입은 가족은 안 추웠다고 함. 방바닥이 차서 실내 슬리퍼를 가져오길. 실외슬리퍼만 제공됨 직원들은 친절하시고 간단한 영어도 하심. 온천은 오래된 느낌이지만 온천 자체가 좋았음. 개인온천보다는 공용온천이 넓어서 좋았음. 방문했을 때 손님이 별로 없어서 우리가족만 공용온천을 사용했음. 복도에 자판기가 있음. 식사도 새롭고 특별했음. 우리가 빨리 먹는 편인데도 18시부터 1시간40분 정도 식사를 함. 일본에서만 맛볼 수 있는 코스 음식을 먹을 수 있어서 새로웠음. 아침식사는 기차시간 때매 7시45분에 부탁드려서 먹었음. 한상차림으로 일본식 식사가 나옴. 근데 일본식이 대부분 그렇지만 달달하고 짭짤하고 느끼하기도 해서 김치가 땡겼음. 고라역에서 터널계단 지나면 바로 보임. 뛰어서 1분 거리. 밤에는 주변이 어두워서 편의점은 미리 다녀오는게좋음.
