Everything just right. Not bad. There is a super market nearby. Very quiet.

Strange location in an industrial estate.We stayed Saturday night but I would guess workdays there would be plenty of noise early on. The rooms were good and clean. Entry everywhere by access code It was completely unstaffed. A very good bistro type restaurant just round the corner with huge portions of food at a reasonable (for Iceland) price. We would choose somewhere else if in the area again

Its a small self checkin guesthouse in middle of commercial looking area. But well managed and clean. You need to follow simple instruction to self checkin and get into hotel. No staff at hotel. Room was good enough for one night. No shampoo or conditioner so carry with you. No microwave but small fridge and kettle was handy. Wish curtains were more dark and covering whole window as it was very lighted due to sun whole time during summer.

Stayed in a lovely private room with private bathroom. Building was nicely quiet, even with people next door to me (I didn’t hear them). The shower was hot, which was great! Would definitely stay again :)

The parking was secure, the room was clean and comfortable, and the check-in process and getting into our room was very easy. The room was spacious.

This place is really in the middle of nowhere, but if you are heading east by the south coast, then it's perfect. We stayed here first stay after we arrived and it met our needs well. There is no staff. They give a code to the main door and code to your room. The room has the necessities. It's a no-frills simple suitable stay.

The hotel was clean and bed was comfortable. It’s a great location. Last night the sweetest man knocked on our door and let us know to go outside and see the northern lights. He worked there. He went above and beyond to make sure we didn’t miss this spectacular view and was very kind, funny, and polite.

We had a wonderful three-night stay at the Black Beach Guesthouse. The self-check-in process was super easy, and we really appreciated the location in Þorlákshöfn — just about an hour from Reykjavík and the airport. On our first night, we took a short walk to the local community recreation center, where a kind local recommended a nearby spot called Thai Sakhon. We gave it a try, and the food was great! During our stay, we went on several day trips — to Diamond Beach (about 4.5 hours away), Vík (around 2 hours), and Selfoss (only 20 minutes). We usually got back late, but one night we discovered another great restaurant right next to Thai Sakhon called Super1pizza. We ended up chatting with a friendly local there who told us about life in Iceland — it was such a nice, unexpected highlight of our trip. The area around the guesthouse felt safe and welcoming, even though it’s in a slightly industrial part of town. Þorlákshöfn itself is quiet but easy to walk around. We loved spotting Icelandic horses near the water by the local church (about a 10-minute walk from the guesthouse), and the Krónan grocery store just a few minutes away was super convenient. Our room was simple, clean, and comfortable — exactly what we needed after long days of exploring. The guesthouse only provides soap (no shampoo) and doesn’t have a common area or lobby, but that’s typical for guesthouses and didn’t bother us at all. Overall, our stay was relaxing, comfortable, and a perfect base for exploring

We had problems with the door code ,it was very finicky. Problem with door was resolved quickly..cosy and clean room... nothing special
