Rating & Review Keseluruhan Hunkubakkar Guesthouse

The property was in the middle of nowhere but still easy to find, especially in the dark. I switched to this place at the last minute and we were mostly glad we did. The staff was wonderful and the homemade bread and jam was fabulous. Our bathroom sink and tub were not draining very well so we had to be careful about that. The room walls are VERY thin so the noise from the other people were a bit disturbing. From the pictures we thought we would have a separate cabin but ours ending up having four rooms attached. The people next to us were very loud. The lamps above the beds were so low that we kept hitting our heads. There are no phones in the cabin either so we were able to call anyone for questions or help. We had a very hard time locking our door and couldn't ask anyone for help. The Wifi password was different on the key, compared to the instructions on the paperwork in the cabin.....it should have been capitalized. There is also no tv/radio or anything so if you like to fall asleep to white noise or tv, you will need to bring your own stuff. We stayed for two nights. Didn't have dinner there as we don't like lamb and the breakfast was small but it worked. The staff was super friendly and we loved that it was located up the street from the gorge. It was beautiful. Being on a sheep farm was pretty cool as well.

A TV and a refrigerator would make the guesthouse even better.

The property backs up to a butte with adorable sheep grazing and 2 minutes from a famous canyon. It is peaceful and beautiful. The staff are extremely friendly and the breakfast was perfect and light. A very pleasant experience 10/10 recommend.

Stayed one night here and loved the vibe & feel of the cabins. Staff were friendly & courteous. To top it off, I got to witness the start of Iceland’s ‘réttir’, which was truly amazing. The breakfast, however, was continental and basic compared to other hotels I stayed at during my 17-day trip to Iceland.

Great place to stay

Great staff but room didn’t have any ventilation. Some mosquitoes around. But good cozy stay. Rooms are extremely small but great peaceful location.

We stayed in a triple. It was so cute and clean. Tiny bathroom. Slept well. Breakfast was lacking and not great but we loved our cabin! Great location after our glacier hike headed back towards Vik.

Charming cabins but overpriced. There's better value elsewhere.

Cozy cabin that was very clean and beautiful property, too bad it rained the entire time of our visit. Had supper at the restaurant and it was excellent, also enjoyed the fresh baked bread for breakfast.

Die Hütte war sehr gemütlich und ruhig gelegen und die Mitarbeiter waren außerordentlich nett. Wir sind zu dritt mit unserem 17 Monate altem Kind dort gewesen und haben uns sehr wohl gefühlt. Lediglich die Matratze des Bettes war für unseren Geschmack zu weich. Die Auswahl des Frühstück war übersichtlich, aber dennoch ausreichend. Die Unterkunft ist sehr zu empfehlen

The cabin was surrounded by fields of grazing sheep. Beautiful setting! The room was very comfortable and clean. Great breakfast.

for a double bed and shared bathroom: smaller quarters but clean and bright. easy to find and beautiful location, with very friendly guesthouse staff. we didn't get to have dinner there, but the nearby kjarr is very pleasant, with nice waterfall views. for a continental breakfast at the guesthouse, the breakfast was quite good.

Amazing country farm experience. The cabins are cozy, the staff is friendly and helpfull. The diner was expeptional (lamb).

Nous n’avons pas pu annulé la réservation sur le site hotels.com bien qu’on était en deans des délais requis il restait une dizaine de minutes avant expiration. On a essayé d’appeler l’hôtel directement mais ils n’ont pas répondu. L’hôtel a refusé d’annuler la réservation malgré les efforts de négociation d’hotels.com

The cabins we’re comfortable and located on an idyllic setting. The dinner was phenomenal (we had the lamb). It was the best meal on our trip! The breakfast was included and was cold choices but delicious. Would highly recommend!

This property is a little way off the Ring road, but very quiet. The rooms were very clean and comfortable. Breakfast was nice. They do serve dinner there,however we did not eat at the guesthouse.
