The property was beautiful, well-maintained, and overall we had a pleasant stay. However, there were a few issues that kept it from being a 5-star experience for us. The bathroom was quite small, which wasn’t a major problem but was noticeable. The biggest issue occurred during our honeymoon stay. On our second night, a large wedding reception was being held on the same floor, directly next to our room. By 10:30 PM, the music was so loud that our bed was literally shaking from the bass. We called the front desk and were told they would ask the event to lower the volume. When the noise continued 30 minutes later, we called again. While the staff said they would address it, the response felt somewhat indifferent. There were also guests from the wedding yelling in the hallway, and we were told security would check on the situation. My main concern is not that the hotel hosted a wedding, but rather the room placement. With an event of that size taking place, it seems the hotel could have assigned nearby rooms to wedding attendees rather than guests seeking a quiet stay. Aside from that experience, the hotel itself was very nice, the property was beautiful, and we enjoyed our visit overall.

Great trip

The Vanderbilt is a great place to stay while in San Juan. Close to local beaches and Old San Juan. The pools were great, with multiple places to catch the breeze.

I booked ocean view through Expedia which to my surprise meant an ocean view tower which you can look in the corner to see a partial view of the ocean. The hotel told me that I would have to pay $250 more a night for a true ocean view. The suites are the only rooms with true ocean views I was told. Staff was extremely nice and professional and I appreciate them alllowing me to book elsewhere after the first day when learning this information. I do believe they need to be more transparent about their room features.

Staff was amazing

I enjoyed the four outdoor pools which included the adults only pool near the hot tub which was also near a tanning area that included water to cool off your feet, the main pool (family friendly) and the infinity pool. Although the room was smaller, it was nice and the bathroom was decently sized with a full size mirror. I paid for an ocean view which I could barely see the ocean, I learned my lesson on that and will pick the basic room next time. Overall, it was a great experience, the staff was very helpful and welcoming.

Let’s begin with the most important thing you need to know: THIS IS NO LONGER A 5-STAR HOTEL. The final morning of our stay says it all. At 5:45 a.m., a crew of handymen began hammering on a railing at the Mexican restaurant below our room. Repeated calls to the front desk went unanswered, forcing me to go downstairs to complain. The explanation? The front desk agent was on another call. The hammering stopped briefly, then resumed. Quite an unforgettable wake-up call on the last day of a vacation. Unfortunately, this was only the latest disappointment: * Check-in was delayed nearly two hours; our rooms were not ready until almost 6:00 p.m. * The food at Las Olas was barely edible. * Service throughout the property ranged from indifferent to unfriendly. * Breakfast waits often exceeded 30 minutes. * On Saturday, our room had still not been serviced by 6:00 p.m. * Turndown service was provided only once during a three-night stay. * Room service delivered a Caesar salad (with the dressing on the side) with just spoiled lettuce, missing all other ingredients of a Caesar salad. It felt less of a mistake and more like a dismissive response to a simple request... an insult. I have stayed at this hotel many times over the years and always enjoyed it. During my previous visit I noticed standards slipping; this time the decline was impossible to ignore. Simply put, this property no longer delivers a 5-star experience and booking platforms should seriously reconsider its rating.

Esperas de más de 40 minutos en dos ocasiones por un minibar. Todo lo demás estuvo excelente, pero quedé bastante decepcionado con el servicio a la habitación, ya que el tiempo de espera fue excesivo y, en mi opinión, absurdo. La situación se limitó a una disculpa y a indicarme que se lo informarían a la supervisora, pero no hubo ninguna otra acción para remediar el inconveniente.

Excelente hotel, el personal es muy amable, las instalaciones son limpias, ordenadas, las piscinas con calentador, frente al océano. Lo recomiendo 100 %

This place is expensive, but you can really relax and be treated like royalty. Staff is wonderful. Any of the rest have excellent food. The beach and pools are relaxing. Location is n a great part of town with nearby sites and eateries. I would definitely stay again. We did have troubles from time to time getting the room serviced, but the room itself was luxurious and relaxing.

Good hotel with no real complaints. Cigar lounge a brilliant touch, restaurant was excellent! But the hotel rooms need upgraded if they want to drive value for both clients and stake holders. Investment in property is visibly missing!

Beautiful property, great food and staff!

The hotel is really nice but I believe the five star depends on what you paid for. We stayed in the East tower in a room with ocean view but no balcony which is not as great as the rooms next to us that had that feature. Windows do open which is nice. The staff are helpful and polite. Housekeeping did a great job. I am not much of a pool person but on the one day I entered the main pools, both were heated which is strange to me. Also, the hotel is located on a rocky part of the beach so no access. The street is busy with hotels and some restaurants and pretty safe.

Service was amazing

Worth it! Beautiful hotel. I was concerned about the price; however, the staff, location, and amenities make it feel worth it. Everyone was respectful and welcoming. If you’re used to an all-inclusive this hotel is not that experience. It’s also not a 5 star hotel but a good entry point into that experience. Everything is expensive but you’re paying for the location and experience. My biggest complaint: my bathtub was not clean and I think the initial daily deposit is too high. Outdoor pool and hot tub made me forget that I overpaid to stay here.

It's a beautiful looking location and hotel. They host events for weddings and proms and as nice as that is it does cause more foot traffic especially from people who may run through knocking on doors and such. I liked the friendly staff and for the most part they were very tentative. The daily room re stock wasn't exactly as they described and I saw some big brown secada looking bug in a bathroom but it's nature so I can't hold it against the hotel. I would recommend the hotel and the staff and I do plan to stay there again as my 1st choice hotel but I will be comparing them to a few other high end ones so stay tuned.
