Rating & Review Keseluruhan Shining Star Beachfront Accommodation

This was one of our favorite stays in New Zealand. The setting was great - right across from the (amazing and free) Glowworm Dell and walking distance to town. Also beach convenient. Hokitika was a great little town and the kind host had movies you could borrow, which was nice in the evening.

The chalet suited us very well and was great being so close to the beach and the flow worm cave.

Shower definitely needs renewing. Broken shower lining at the bottom was not a good look. Stove top elements need updating. Also got woken up from a deep sleep by very noisy obviously very late arrivals,very annoying. Otherwise it was lovely.would stay again.helped the weather was nice and the sunset was stunning.

Excellent property, close to the beach, good quality facilities

The location was great 70m to a great beach, amenities were good. The wooden chalet looked a little dated from the outside but inside was clean comfortable and well equipped. There was a comfortable queen sized bed, sofa and kitchenette with a good shower that remained hot. There were chairs on the veranda (just a small point no table!) There were Alpacas, goats, rabbits and chickens penned nearby for the kids and a 70m walk to the beach. We only stayed one night, but found it well situated to shops and town. Highly recommend

Nice quiet location which has direct access to the beach. It is very close to the Glowworm Dell walkway too. It is farther away from the downtown area but not too bad as the town is not very big.

Overall handy to some great attractions, check in easy and friendly, rooms clean. Wifi was not very easy to access and not a strong signal when I did.

This is a lovely cabin right near the beach in Hokitika. It was comfortable and well equipped.

Harry, Larry and Gary alpachas! Awesome. Great hosts and very helpful. Cabin fittings need updating... worn out gas cooktop, heater on wall, bathroom cabinetry is water damaged etc. Bed mattress hard as a brick.

Right across from the Glow Worm Dell, and easy access to the beach. You can't really see the beach from the room, but you can see the ocean and it's a quick walk down to the beach. Nice to have the deck and nice garden. Internet was not great. Otherwise a very nice stay.

The location is excellent but sadly our room looked like it had not been updated for at least 25 years. The bottom of the fridge door was rusty as were the taps in the bathroom and glass/metal unit also in the bathroom.The very dated shower cubicle only had a badly fitting curtain so that the bathroom floor became wet very quickly. In the bathroom the wooden wall on the left hand side was sticky with toothpaste marks. The carpet and furniture looked like it has not been replaced since the 1970’s. Would not recommend this motel which was more expensive than much nicer places.

Great little town for a stopover if it’s sunny, and these cabins were cute, clean and comfy. The non-beachfront cabins are pretty much right off the highway, so car/train noise may bother sensitive sleepers.

The property was very good. Clean and comfortable. Very close to glow worms and beach. If you have a room close to the highway you can hear the traffic and feel the train. Only reason it was not excellent was the brutal internet.

Stayed for 2 nights Feb 2025. Our room had a log cabin feel to it and was cosy with a small kitchen area. Bathroom was small but functional and clean. Cabin backed onto the railway tracks but we only heard 2 trains the entire visit so not a problem. The selling point of this property has to be access to the beach, just spectacular! Laundry room with washers/dryers was useful. Plenty of dining options in Hokitika, we drove but it is a 20 minute walk.

A nice facility close to the beach. The rooms are nice and comfortable. The internet is very slow. Barely enough bandwidth for YouTube or any other streaming source.
