We had the most disturbing experience with this hotel, with the owner precisely, for writing our truthful review on Google Maps. In our first morning, we got out of the shower, fully naked and the housekeeping barged into our room using a master key, leaving us feeling violated. We reported the incident to the front desk, but there was no follow-up or investigation. They said they were sorry but nothing could be done, which left us frustrated and upset.
Upon checkout, the hotel didn’t assist with calling a taxi, and we had to use their shuttle service, which cost double what a metered taxi would have. The owner himself drove us to the train station and berated us the entire way, shouting about our review and threatening to blacklist us from hotels in Italy. He displayed blatant racism, saying, “this is Italy and not China,” despite knowing our nationality from our passports. His aggressive demeanor made us feel unsafe in the car.
After we arrived, we took a photo of his license plate to report the incident to Expedia. He then confronted us, coming 1-inch close to my wife's face, demanding we delete the photo of his car plate and threatening to call the police. We felt increasingly unsafe and WE wanted to call the police. When we tried to call, he drove off.
This was a traumatic experience, especially considering we entrusted the hotel with our personal information and expected to be treated with dignity and respect. Instead, we faced hostility and threats.
