The staff, the food at both dinner and breakfast were excellent. Parking is just across a quiet road. Our room however left us literally cold. Old building, 'wavy' floors, single glazed casement windows facing the prevailing - brisk - wind and an outside temperature of close to freezing. Then the heating gets switched off for the night ! Considering that this was the most expensive 'one nighter' on our recent trip, we were less than satisfied.

Enjoyed our stay whilst doing the C2C. Food was good and bikes were looked after. Being on a main road popular with bikers there was some traffic noise but a huge shower made up for that. Many thanks

Very friendly staff. Delicious food for breakfast and evening meals. Comfortable bed and decent sized room. Small but adequate bathroom. Our only minor complaint was the lack of hooks in the bathroom on which to hang clothes while showing.

Nicely decorated old hotel in a good location, lovely owner. Travelled with our dog without issues.

Clean, comfortable and spacious room. Great in room amenities. Centrally located in Alston for conveniences. Tasty breakfast. Wouldn’t recommend eating there by night though. Both meals ordered were undercooked.

We were warmly welcomed and shown to our room which was very spacious and nicely decorated. We enjoyed a drink in the beautiful gardens and walked through the town to do some shopping in the small independent shops. The breakfast was very good and just the right size, my husband had the full English and I had the vegetarian breakfast. There is a beautiful waterfall just a few miles away called Ashgill Force which is well worth a visit. We would definitely stay at Alston Hotel again.

Nice hotel, staff all friendly and helpful, reasonably priced bar and food. No lift. Bedrooms really clean, only small issue for us was lack of bathroom door due to room design.... But the other room in our party was a different design with a door... So if it would be a big deal for you, make sure to ask for a room with a bathroom door!!! 👍 Pretty village, in process of numerous improvements, 3 or 4 pubs in walking distance.

A good clean hotel with a great location to explore the beautiful countryside, a hearty decent breakfast to set you up for the day and a good restaurant, what more do you need?

We had a lovely stay at the Alston hotel , the room was very clean and had a modern design . The bath was lovely luxurious with free bubble bath . Our evening meal at the hotel was excellent with a good varied menu . The dining room had a lovely ambience. Full English breakfast was delicious in the morning all in all we had a great stay
