Lovely place, highly recommend, Thai restaurant brilliant and staff absolutely amazing, best I’ve very had the pleasure to meet. Breakfast expensive £20 for continental and an extra £30 for English (£50 for 2 people). Would recommend

Lovely stay. Very quirky room and bed was really comfortable, staff lovely!

Good things - clean room and nice outdoors seating area by pool. Poor things - no HD channels in bedroom available to view. Complained to front desk but nothing done about it. Only one hanger available in first room. These were at least added to when issue raised. Shower holder not secure on wall in first room. Shower holder even worse in second room meaning water sprayed everywhere. Plugs by kettle in second room failed to work so had to boil kettle resting on bed. All smallish things in themselves, but combined made for poor experience.

We stayed here 6 years ago and had an amazing stay so we were hoping it was still as good and it was, I actually thought the reception staff were much nicer this time. Rooms are just fabulous and super clean, pool area is so lovely and they do the best dirty martinis :) Honestly this place is one of my favourites !

The rooms need at least an option of having more light. I get the theme for the hotel, but still - the lack of light in the room was deeply inconvenient. The most disappointing part was the pool area. When I visited in 2022, the pool setup was absolutely amazing for summer - cocktails in a very elegantly done Moroccan themed poolside. Great vibes, great drinks. Now - all that is gone, and the pool cabanas aren’t even properly set up. This was a real disappointment as it was the key reason I’d booked the crazy bear, other than the convenient location. The other challenge is parking - it states free parking but it’s just public street parking. Once you find a space for your car nearby - move it at your peril! The staff were friendly and helpful, and the restaurant was nice enough. The main draw is the location, the nice classic Beaconsfield style building the hotel is in, and the room availability.

One of the key features of this hotel is room styles we had a decadent room the copper bath in the middle of the room which unfortunately could not hold any water as the bath plug leaked so what ever went in pretty much drained away and then to add to that the water was stone cold as the tap did not work correctly and also you could not shut off the shower unless you had the strength of Hercules, why is none of this checked before the room is given out, a shame as last time i stayed here it was a good experience now the rooms seem tired and for the prices being paid for the room and food and drink they need to do better

Incorrect picture of the hotel on your website. Our room was across a busy road, so couldn’t practically use the pool.

Quirky but fabulous ‘Snug’ room. Excellent staff. The pool area was not overly crowded. Excellent food too. We had a fabulous stay.

The room was beautifully presented and we enjoyed using the pool. Staff were really friendly. Unfortunately the biggest let down for us was the shower in the room. It wouldn’t stabilize kept turning hot then really cold. Couldn’t enjoy it. Other than that a lovely stay.

I feel bad that I have had to give a mix rating because I feel everything about our stay was going well until I suffered food poisoning. I woke up at 2am in a lot of pain and spent two hours in the bathroom vomiting. Earlier that day I had the king prawns and at dinner I had the flat iron steak. Immediately after my dinner I felt a discomfort but did not think anything of it. When we checked out on 26th May I mentioned this to the receptionist who said there was nothing she could do and I should contact the manager. I’ve emailed the email address I was provided but not heard back from them. I’ve still not recovered from the incident which has made it even more difficult for me To provide positive feedback.

Heat the pool

We were shown to our allocated room, the snug. As the pictures show the room was dark with air conditioning . We asked receptionist for WiFi code and informed it is shown on TV. The TV and remote control wouldn't work and we were told there was a problem so we would be upgraded to a different location which had the bath placed at the foot of the bed. This indeed was wonderful. The room was clean and WiFi did indeed work. We are at the tai restaurant which was wonderful. The air conditioning seemed noisy but certainly kept a room with no opening windows cool. The only complaint was the communal toilets, mens and womans were so dark you couldn't see where the actual toilet cubicles were. One had a broken lock in the woman's and the other one was blocked with toilet paper. We want to add that all the staff, receptionists, tai restaurant staff and breakfast staff were lovely. A special mention to the waiter from the bar who assisted in finding out what a particular ice cream flavour was!
