Staying at this hotel felt like being in a paradise in the jungle. Our villa had its own private access to the lagoon, which is something you don’t often find here. The gardens are filled with green plants, bright flowers, and creative art. The staff is always helpful and attentive. The restaurant’s food has really improved since we were here about two years ago.

The best hotel in Bacalar. i have been coming to Akalki for over 14 years and never disappoints. Take note that the bungalow rooms on the water ( 1-4) do have air conditioning - the website ( expedia listing ) is not clear about that. Make sure to take a tour to go visit the temple and take Akalki boat tour on the water with your captain Yan. Every morning there is a holistic experience of either sound healing, yoga , meditation - endulge in these experiences as well. The spa is also incredible and also had one of the most amazing holistic massages. Akalki isn’t just a hotel but rather a sanctuary to turn inward and connect with nature.

A small and beautiful resort, 100% recommended. The lake is the most Beautiful lake I’ve ever seen. And food is excellent.

This place was so nice and relaxing, super close to the little plaza. Close to places to eat, they have amazing tasty food in the hotel. If you’re looking for a quiet relaxing place this is the place to go.

Excellent,beautiful boutique hotel in a stunning location, the hotel has an excellent restaurant in a beautiful location. The only improvement could be better towels as they’re a bit scruffy and a suitcase standin the room.

It’s hard to describe the peace and serenity we felt at Akalki.

Everything about Akalki is excellent. The accommodation, the location, the staff, the yoga, the food, and the access to the amazing Bacalar Lake. It is truly a healing space and I try to come there as often as I can!

This hotel was truly something beyond words. The hospitality was exceptional in the most genuine way — warm, kind, and deeply attentive. The place itself felt almost sacred, with a magical atmosphere that surrounded everything. There was a profound energy throughout the hotel, a sense of peace and depth that is impossible to fully describe, but deeply felt. It was more than just a stay; it was a meaningful experience that touched me on a very deep level

Our cabana was in the middle of a remodel. There was a tarp blocking half of the view, which was as the reason why we booked this hotel. The staff was quick to do a turnaround that worked out but wasn’t super ideal. The location of the cabanas right on the water is outstanding.

Me gustó mucho todo las instalaciones, la comida etc sin embargo sugiero fumiguen con más frecuencia. Hay unos bichitos que se suben hasta la cama y que incluso se pegan en tu bolsa. Lo entiendo de verdad por la propia naturaleza del lugar pero si creo que algo se puede hacer.

This hotel is truly paradise on earth. The combination of the turquoise water and the lush jungle is simply magical. The attention to detail is remarkable, and the restaurant offers delicious food with plenty of vegetarian options. We even saw spider monkeys and went snorkeling — an unforgettable experience!
