An additional kr3,000 for bedding and kr4,000 to park for just a few hours doubled the cost of the stay.

Very average accommodation for the cost,

The owner was rude to us, the place is dirty and full of things in common areas

The owner is rude, not at all friendly, he was disrespectful, he does not comply with what he offers. I’d like cancel my reservation

The place is not adequately kept and looks terrible. I got many e-mails insisting on paying in cash and pushing me to pay for parking on the property when parking in the street and the area, as the whole country, is highly safe. She insisted so much that we paid even though we did not use it and left the car in another place. They also offered a drive to the airport and the driver was nice and courteous.

Nice location with great access to the city center and bus stop number 13. Nice staff and very responsive.

It was ok in cleanliness, nothing bad comes to mind but it was not the cleanest place i have been.

The room was ok, very basic (one pillow? Really?), but at least it was warm. The hostel was very very noisy, lots of partying downstairs, from the owners/managers of the hostel, not the people staying! I got minimal sleep last night. Free wifi was great, location great too. Shower facilities needs a massive makeover, old, grimy, cold.

Had a late arrival and was still greeted no issue. Only had one night and an early morning shuttle so did not have opportunity to follow up on the two issues. Unfortunately never got the key to work in the door and never found a towel to shower in the morning. Did find face cloths so managed a basic cleaning.

The hotel itself is not too bad. What I disliked about this hotel was the staff. The lady who works at the hotel swindled and coerced me into buying a trip to the airport. Because of the way she went about it, I believe she, or the hotel, maybe gets some type of commission or bonus for every trip they help them sell. This lady basically made me believe that this bus was the only option back to the airport. Right away she even “took the trouble” of “helping me” by getting on her laptop and ordering the ticket for me. When she asked me for my card, I of course very reluctantly gave her my card, only because I felt almost forced to believe her and that it would’ve been awkward telling her I wanted to shop around. Later on I found out I could’ve easily gotten on public transportation for less than half the price. I tried to return the ticket, the bus company told me I had to go through the hotel, when I did that, she told me that she had emailed the bus company but couldn’t get them to refund the ticket

Service - The man that helped us was very vice. We accidentally went to the wrong accommodation (we were staying at a different place the day before our tour and at Egilsborg Guesthouse the day after our tour). He was kind enough to drive us to our correct accommodation and was not angry at all about our mistake. Location - Great. Walkable distance to the city. Facilities - I have stayed at various places around the world that have had shared bathrooms, including Barcelona, London, Berlin and Reykjavik. This was by far the cleanest, well-lit, well-kept and well-stocked shared bathroom of all the places I have been to, probably even better than some 4-4.5 star hotels. Overall, fantastic for a short term stay before or after a tour around Iceland :)

Overpriced hostel that booked on an emergency very last minute but they try to charge for everything on the side.

Hotel doesn’t provide correct information about check in. Staff Proceeded to write a very mean message to us after we simply tried to call to ensure our lastmin booking was still valid (provided incorrect phone numbers on expedia and Checkin details). If last min booking allowed on Expedia then the Checkin process must reflect this.

It's convenient to the city centre. However, it is not friendly for late check-in.

Egils Guest house ligger meget centralt i Reykavik, 5. min gang fra Hallgrimskirken. Det er mere et hostel. hvor man sørger for sig selv. Der er toilet og bad på gangen, et køleskab tilrådighed til madvare og service, bestik, microovn, toaster, el-kedel til fri afbenyttelse i fælles lokalet.

La veille de notre départ j'ai envoyé un courriel pour leur dire que notre avion atterrissait vers 11:30 du soir, à cela il est normal d'ajouter du temps pour prendre les bagages, passer à l'immigration, prendre un taxi et se rendre à l'établissement, environ 45 minutes, de plus notre vol a accusé un retard. Nous sommes donc arrivé à 02:30 du matin, et nous nous sommes cognés à une porte barrée, avec tous nos bagages, sous la pluie, exténuées, ne sachant que faire et appuyant constamment sur le bouton de la petite cloche. Personne ne c'est jamais présenté. Après plusieurs minutes, nous avons été chanceuses car un couple de guests revenaient d'une sortie et nous a ouvert la porte. Nous leur avons expliqué notre situation, et ils ont vu une clé à notre nom près du café. Le lendemain matin, lorsque nous sommes descendus un homme assis dans une chaise regardait un film sur son ordi, aucune salutation, une femme (genre indienne) nous a salué et a tout de suite demandé que l'on paie car elle s'en allait, selon ce qu'elle dit ils viennent le matin seulement ( pour encaisser le cash et chargé des tas d'extras). Alors je me suis mise à lui explique que nous avions attendu dehors, sans réponse, sans numéro de chambre, etcc elle a répondu que quelqu'un nous avait attendu 1 heure !! et était parti. Elle nous a chargé un extra pour cela, même si absolument personne nous a ouvert la porte, elle ne voulait rien entendre, nous devions payer pour être rester dehors!!

This place is perfect for a budget traveler or backpacker. The owners, a married couple, were friendly and helpful. I found the room comfortable & warm, about a 10 minute walk from shops & attractions. I would certainly stay here again.

In the city centre, easy access to major attractions, home away from home.

Le séjour s'est bien passé. Le guest house est convenable sans confort particulier et je ne me plaindrai pas sur les détails. Le gėrant m'a réservé mon pickup pour le bus de l'aéroport. La ligne de bus pour l'aéroport à des minibus qui vous prennent à l'hôtel directement. J'apprrécie beaucoup. J'aime ce pays.
