Tateyama Kurobe
The Tateyama Kurobe Alpine Route, stretching through Japan's ridges at over 3,000 meters, features endless peaks. Visit the arch-shaped Kurobe Dam, which blocks the Kurobe River, and see Kurobe Lake formed by the reservoir. The scenery is breathtaking and unique, with natural forests and Japan’s highest national park offering a pure landscape. Enjoy the changing 90-kilometer stretch through the seasons, from snow and alpine plants to red leaves. From the car window, view the towering 3,000-meter mountains and Lake Kurobe as a grand panorama.
On the Ogizawa-Murodo roundtrip route, explore the Kurobe Dam's spectacular water release and Mikurigaike Pond (Murodo), formed by melted snow. At 2,450 meters, Murodo enjoys a pleasant 15-20°C even in summer, with some snow patches remaining. Refresh with the cold, delicious water from the Tamadono Fountain. Spot rock ptarmigans and their chicks from July to August.
