The Coniston Hotel is good value for what it provides and is close to Wollongong. Room was clean; bed comfy. Just be aware they are currently undergoing renovation to the downstairs pub during the week so you may experience noise after 7am. We would stay again.

I am a Japanese but stayed in Wollongong several times. The room is neat and tidy.
I made a mistake in checking out date, but the staff member arranged the replacement hotel etc. When I offered a tip to him, he said it is a pure duty of the hotel member and didn't accept the tip, which impressed me very much.
The bistro together with the pub is cozy.
Although this is not in the center of Wollongong, still conveniently located and the price is very reasonable compared to other hotels in Wollongong.

I stayed at room 8. Very good size and renovated.
However there was constant on and off machine noise (pump, aircon or whatever) outside or above the room which was very annoying and disturbing.
Bring the overall rating down.

Power went off during the night and for most of the night. This meant No air con, I couldn’t charge my devices and I couldn’t turn on any lights to see where I’m going.

The room was really spacious and had obviously been beautifully renovated during the ongoing renovation work. Unfortunately for us the hotel was still very much a work in progress. I’m sure when it is completed the overall rating will be much higher. For now though I would be inclined to give it a miss. During our stay the bistro was out of commission meaning that we had to drive around Wollongong looking for somewhere to eat, easier said than done given the difficulty finding parking.

The staff was really friendly upon our arrival despite it being really late. We had booked connecting rooms and got locked out of one of them, but the staff was helpful to help us open the door. The rooms are pretty cozy and spacious, and bathrooms are pretty big. Easy too given there is onsite parking. Overall a very comfortable stay!
