It's close to the station, there are many restaurants, the room is clean, and the outside is quiet.

Clean, comfortable (aircon good), affordable, Dining Room and Bar within Hotel. Across road from cafes, newsagent, laundromat. 1 block to Railway Station. Only flaw was en-suite sink drained very slowly.

DO NOT BOOK HERE! I was really looking forward to staying in an old school Aussie hotel for 7 nights. But the Penshurst was not what it pretends to be online. If I could give this hotel a -5 out of 5 I would. Arrived late (after messaging and saying I'd be arriving around 11pm – their website states check-in is open until midnight) and there was no signage / way-finders so I wandered around the bar / bistro / pokies until someone asked me what I was doing. The place was filled with cigarette smoke (inside) and virtually all the staff in the pub seemed to be in an argument about losing some patrons handbag behind the bar. Eventually got my room with limited instructions re: lift and 24h access etc. As soon as I entered the upstairs hallway to the room all I could smell was eye-watering bleach. This got stronger as I entered the room, which was about half the size as advertised. No balcony and view. Dust everywhere, including very noticeable layers of crud in several spots on the dark-coloured carpet. No work desk and chair as advertised. No shelving or the like to store clothes and in general, no flat surfaces to put things. No face cloths so purchased my own then even though I had door handle sign that said something like ’no need to service room’, they came in and did so anyway, taking away the face cloths then claiming they didn’t when I asked about them. Scummy soap and shampoo containers in the bathroom, which was stupidly almost the same size as the main room. I had to..

What a beautiful place to stay, with your own ensuite. Bed was super comfortable.

I loved that it was right next to the train station, the staff were very helpful and it was a lovely room. The bistro looked closed bit just needed brighter lights. Lovely food at good prices
