Hotels in Rio can be expensive (by Brazilian standards) and hit or miss. We were very pleased with our stay at the Promenade Palladium. The location is perfect: a short walk to Leblon beach, an even shorter walk to a plethora of restaurants, cafes, shops, pharmacies, and anything else you might need. It is also just a few blocks from a metro station which is a great (and safe) option for getting around the city. Our room was on the second floor facing the street, which is quiet (by Rio standards) and has thick glass sliding door opening to a spacious balcony with a small table and chair. The room itself was huge, with a kitchen dining area (sink, microwave, counter, table and chairs), a sofa facing a large television , a very comfortable King-size bed, and a bathroom with a great shower. The breakfast selections are excellent and there is a very generous daily evening food offering from 5-7pm. I swim for exercise and this is one of the few hotels in which I have stayed that has an excellent lap pool that is about 20 yards long. Friends tell me that this was formerly a kind of aparthotel now converted to a hotel. All of the staff were friendly, professional and efficient. Highly recommended and worth the price.
