Cabañas del Rio was a wonderful place to stay in La Fortuna. We stayed in the family unit with three queen beds and a kitchen. It worked out great for our family of 6. Wonderful garden trail to watch for birds and frogs in the morning. Felt at home here! Clean, comfortable beds, spacious. Thank you for a great stay!

A beautiful oasis, just a few mins from the town center. Leo was a true gem- his hospitality, passion for the business, and deep respect for family, made our stay exceptional. This is a family business and they take great pride in their guest experience. The frog tour and garden were awesome and the rooms were meticulously clean. Just fantastic. You couldn’t wish for a better base to explore the wonders of La Fortuna. Whether it’s the fantastic breakfast … the local advice, the wonderful accommodation (and its comfortable beds!) or the added experience of Leo’s frog walks this place has it all. 5 stars.

First hotel of our trip and the very first morning blew our minds. We woke the sound of birds and saw Leo put bananas out and attract a dazzling array of birds. We looked up at the trees and saw howler monkeys and Toucans. We walked into their garden and down to the stream and saw an abundance of poison dart frogs and were mesmerized by the stream at the edge of the garden. All this was before finishing the first cup of coffee, still in our pajamas. Leo and the hotel staff made our stay an absolute delight. Leo will also give you a personal night tour in the garden. This is on par with the many paid night tours we were to take later on in our trip. Look at the reviews by other guests as well and it might sound incredible to you. But it is all 100% true. The rooms themselves are spacious, clean and come with a well stocked kitchen. The olive oil and coffee provided is delicious. In the photos, this might look like a travelodge or highway motel at first glance. Don't be fooled. This is truly a gem of a place. Supermarkets Rosvil and Cristian are nearby as you head into La Fortuna. Both are excellent.

el lugar super limpio, desde el hotel se ve el volcan arenal. estan haciendo reparaciones, incluso una piscina que expidia no tiene las fotos todavia no aparecen pero esta quedando muy bonita. tienen un pequeno cendero que hacen caminatas nortucnas. el personal de hotel super atentos y amables se los recomiendo.

We had a wonderful experience here! Family trip. They have a pool now they're developing. Staff very friendly and helpful! Our girls loved Leo's frog night tour! 3 King beds was so nice. Great kitchenette. Overall great experience!

Expedia did a horrible job. However not the location I wanted, Expedia showed zero concern. As far as the management at this place absolutely above and beyond, great unit, cozy plenty of room and opened my eyes to how much management cared. Excellent stay!!

Very clean, close to town, friendly management, free night frog tour

This place was amazingly clean and the staff was extremely friendly and accommodating. We can’t wait to come back and see the frogs and birds.

What a gem. The room is stocked and comfortable. The frog safari is in the garden area. Lots and lots for frogs day and night. Red eyed frog and the bluejeaned frogs and more. Fruit in the garden attracts a lot of wonderful birds. The staff is so great. Fresh fruit is waiting for you in your room. About 2 km from downtown La Fortuna.

This little cabana was perfect for our family. It was spacious, it had a full kitchen, and each unit has its own covered parking at your door. The staff is a family running this business, and they go out of their way to help you. Some of our family went on the night frog tour. There is a nice garden area and river view at the end of the trail. The location is easy to find, just outside of the busy town area. We had no trouble driving to local areas, and the La Fortuna waterfall park was down a nearby street. It is not a fancy place, but for the price….it was a wonderful find! We would stay again (three king beds room was perfect for our family…only one door closes for one private bedroom). What a special area!

Immaculate and in a great location. We loved the frog tour and the wonderful people working there. Leo let our son harvest a pineapple that was growing and let us keep it to eat. He made my son’s day. The staff is very knowledgeable about the frogs and great at finding them. The garden and riverbank Is gorgeous. The staff is always available and friendly. Loved coming out onto our patio to find a bowl of fresh fruit on the table. We would definitely stay here again.

Wonderful value and hospitality. Hotel staff did everything in their power to make fun we had a good stay and the property is beautiful!

Excellent stay. Would definitely stay here again. The value is unbelievable Ofor everything you get! Leo was a gracious host, getting us checked in and giving free frog tours to guests on the property. We really appreciated his knowledge and caring for the animals that inhabit the beautiful garden in the property. Parking was perfect. So much room for our family of 6. Every appliance you could need including a full gas stove and oven. The hot water was really hot and relaxing after a long day of adventuring. Can’t wait to stay here again.

This hotel was spacious and clean. The front desk staff was helpful in making phone calls and provided complimentary fruit.
