Cuando llegamos para el check in o quisimos hacer check out, no había personal del hotel que nos atendiera. Tuvimos que recurrir a las personas de seguridad.

Property was pretty good. The staff was EXCELLENT! Good overall experience.

Staff was good. The breakfast was really good! The hotel was only a 5 minute from the beach. The only problem is we didn’t have hot water one night.

This is my third time staying at luna llena. It is close to the heart of tamarindo, and quietly tucked away. The staff are kind and very helpful, the rooms and pool are lovely, and the breakfast is delicious. Thank you for the hospitality.

Clean room, gorgeous pool, and an amazing daily breakfast—especially the lattes. The location is perfect: close to town and the beach, so getting around was easy. We saw at least 10 monkeys on the property every morning, which was such a fun surprise. Super cute place overall. Would absolutely come back with a group of friends and stay here again.

A warm, beautiful, cozy hotel! We enjoyed the silence and nature! Very clean, good breakfast, polite staff! The disadvantage was that there was a sewer smell in the room! Otherwise, everything is fine!

the room had many bugs and ants. The pool was dirty. There wasn't anyone there to help at night. The jacuzzi wasn't hot or on I requested a refund and I was given the full refund

Very disappointing and poorly managed booking. We had reserved two rooms for New Year’s Eve, and Expedia showed our booking as fully confirmed the day before arrival. Despite this, the hotel contacted us one day before check-in claiming that one of our rooms had been cancelled two weeks earlier, which was completely false and unsupported by Expedia’s records. When we arrived, it became clear this was not an isolated issue — another guest was also left without a room due to double booking. Because it was New Year’s and the city was fully booked, we had no option but to accept being crammed into one room (5 adults). Despite the situation being entirely the hotel’s fault, management refused to offer any rebate or compensation. The whole experience felt dishonest and extremely unprofessional. I would not recommend this hotel, especially during peak periods.

Rooms were great! AC worked amazingly. Margie at the front desk was so helpful with luggage storage and making us feel comfortable. The pool was great and there is an outdoor shower. Breakfast was unreal, many options with the traditional breakfast and coffee was great too! Would recommend to anyone looking for a cheeper stay in Tamarindo with easy access to the beach and downtown.

Safe clean resort with private rooms a nice pool, gym, games area, bicycle to use. Breakfast served around the pool each morning with fresh fruit, cereals, coffee, eggs and toast all included in the price. Would stay here again.

The staff were extremely friendly and accommodating. Don’t be afraid to approach them and ask for what you need. My only area for improvement would be the water pressure in the shower could be better but still accomplished the task.

Good location, clean pool, nice people around and amenities and close to the beach. However a few things would make this property better: wifi connection (dropping sometimes and not quite available in the room), darker blinds (room is so bright) and breakfast (although super basic it’s still ok, but once the coffee dispenser is empty, it’s not filled up - even if it’s within the breakfast hours). Très chouette hôtel, à 5 min à pied des commerces et de la plage. Tranquille malgré la proximité du centre ville. Belle pisicine et belles chambres. Choix d'options déjeuner intéressants. *Il n'y a pas de spa ni de service au bar.

Katherine was amazing! I love the breakfast and they keep the Costa Rican charm I love unlike the huge resorts it was so warm and welcoming.

Nothing stood out as exceptional. Fair for the price paid. It was quiet. Will probably spend more next time and get a higher end property.

I've stayed at Hotel Luna Llena twice since 2024, and it’s quickly become one of my favorite spots in Tamarindo. This charming little oasis tucked into the jungle offers a peaceful, welcoming atmosphere just a short walk from the beach and everything the town has to offer. The included breakfast is simple but satisfying, with delicious coffee and my personal favorite—the pancakes! On my most recent visit, I stayed in one of the bungalow rooms, which featured a cozy, round design and a small kitchenette that came in handy. The property is clean, quiet, and beautifully maintained—perfect for relaxing after a day of exploring. I’ll definitely be coming back! The pool is focal point and just wonderful to float around in.

Hotel in a great area and very close to the beach.

It is a very cute hotel setting and there were monkeys in the trees outside the hotel. We were a bit concerned when the breakfast gal dumped a cup of coffee back in the pot. Otherwise, it was great.
