ハコ ホテル ドセルナス

We have been visiting this hotel for several years, and unfortunately we noticed a significant decline in quality this time. The hotel is clearly cutting back on maintenance. The area around the pool looks worn out, with several damaged and faded awnings that need urgent replacement. The rooms also show clear signs of neglect — walls and furniture are starting to look tired and outdated. The bathroom towels were of very poor quality: thin, rough, and not what you would expect from this hotel. In the restaurant, the service left a lot to be desired — slow, inattentive, and lacking the friendliness we experienced in previous visits. It’s a shame because in past years this was one of our favorite places. The drop in standards this time was very noticeable. We hope the management invests again in maintenance and staff training to bring back the quality this hotel once had.

My wife and I spent a week at Hotel Docelunes while studying spanish. Our stay was in the middle of the rainy season, so our experience may not be typical for a high season guest. For several of our nights we were the only guests on property. This does have its pluses, we had the pool to ourselves and parking was never a problem. The downside is that there were almost no amenities. Aside from breakfast in the morning, there is no restaurant service, bar service, and no spa or yoga. Breakfast every day was nice. Plato Tipico with a beans and rice mix, eggs, fresh fruit and coffee. Visiting with our server every morning was very nice. As far as the property is concerned, the gardens are beautiful with tons of flowers, birds, iguana, and from time to time monkeys. We enjoyed sitting pool side and watching the wildlife. Our room was large and very comfortable and the bed was nice. We did have an issues with hot water but after a lesson from the staff on what to turn on when, we were able to take hot showers (Sink faucet on full, then shower on, then sink to 1/4, and leave on while taking a shower). Parking was secure as we were behind a gate with a 24 hour guard. Front desk staff leave before 6. After that, other than the guard, there is no staff on property. If you need something, walk to the small market 100 yards off property or the Soda across the street. I suspect this was a very nice resort 10-15 years ago. With that said, we would stay again.

El estado de las habitaciones y el mantenimiento general de la propiedad es aceptable, el problema es que habían demasiadas cucarachas dentro de la habitación. En total matamos 5 gigantes, se nos metieron hasta en los bolsos y dormimos muy incómodos por que se nos subieran a la cama o a nuestros niños.

Tengo varios años de visitar el hotel y ya se ve signos de desgaste, ya necesita mantenimiento en varias áreas

The property is gorgeous and the swimming pool is nice and big. The only thing I did not like was that the bed was too hard.

Utmärkt rum, lyxigt och fint men inget för hjärtsvaga. Stora frukter/ kokosnötter föll som explosioner hela vistelsen, även på natten.

My kid, wife and I are very happy with our stay, beat our expectation. The hotel is surrounded by tropical forest, like a beautiful botanic garden, quite and safe. The breakfast is amazing, love the swimming pool, check-in is simple and easy, spacious room, very friendly staff. Highly recommended.

Good value if you're looking for a relatively quiet place in a garden setting close to but away from Jaco center. 24/7 security is good. Breakfast is fresh but the same every day. Not sure if it's different on the weekend but I don't believe the onsite restaurant serves lunch or dinner. Plenty of dining options nearby. The room was mostly clean. Some mold or mildew on the nightstand lamp cord. Hot water is limited and seems like it may be shared between the two duplex units. My son had mostly cold showers. I was more fortunate when showering early in the day or later in the evening. The pool is quite nice but there's limited seating and people tend to leave their stuff to "hold" it. The hot tub wasn't hot or working when we tried it. We saw the jets working for others but not sure of the temperature. Standing under the pool's waterfall offers a nice massage. Idiot guests feed the monkeys which has made them aggressive. Thought they were going to attack from the tree above the walkway heading to our room one day. Lots, and lots, of ants. Room safe didn't work electronically so the front desk had to give the only key they had. No telling what would have happened if we had lost it. Lock on bathroom door was broken. Overall hotel seems like it was amazing about 10-15 years ago. Hard to say if the current owner is working to renovate or just maintain. Would recommend because of the good value and relatively quiet, friendly staff, and picturesque setting.

Beautiful hotel !!! The free daily breakfast was fantastic - shoutout to Jordan! The staff at this hotel are super sweet and there are two kitties and a sweet guard dog on the property. Wonderful location as it’s close to downtown but also secluded enough for some quiet and peace. Wonderful stayed for 5 days, highly recommend!

Love it been there almost every year will go back again love the staff and its amazing !

The pool is fantastic! Partially shared with a waterfall that you can sit behind to really get out of the sun. The gardens are lovely!

The pool was lovely and we loved all the animals - domestic and wild! Our neighbors insisted on smoking on the porch despite the “no Fumar” sign posted right outside.
