Good experience and nice service

The shower in the bathroom so badly the water does not work. The shower is supposed to be in the front of you. They have the Shawer in the middle of the Ponyo an old fashion way.

Overall it was a good stay. I would've given it 4.5 stars if I could. The only thing I don't like is how high off the ground the bathtubs are. Very unnaturally high and one might easily hurt themselves going in or out of it. There was no bag in the bathroom garbage can and under the bed was really dusty. I also didn't appreciate that I had to pay extra to use the hot tub. I would go there again.

A nice hotel in a great location near restaurants, cafes, and across from the sea. The hotel is packed with Egyptians on vacation which is a good sign. Breakfast was plentiful and varied. Hotel is large with multiple restaurants, we tried the Lebanese and it was good. Our room was average eventhough we paid for Deluxe. We had great room cleaning crew, Muemin and Khamees. They were polite and efficient and also took care of us and checked in to make sure our room was in condition we wanted. We really appreciated them.

An excellent location in the heart of Alexandria. Staff are very friendly, food is great. Room could be a bit cleaner, bathroom plumbing was not perfect. Overall experience is very good. Would definitely go again.

Bad smell coming out from bathroom drain even I can smell it in hallways

The area is mainly for local tourists and not convenient for foreigners. Literally no one can speak English. Buildings are very very old. Streets are very dirty and unsafe to walk or cross. People smoke almost everywhere inside and outside of the hotel, shops, restaurants,…. Not recommended anymore.

Tolip Alexandria was advertised on the Hotels.com website as a 5-star hotel. I would give it at most 3 stars. its a huge hotel, yes but dark and dingy lobby and sitting areas. it is a very old hotel and shows it, everywhere feels dark and dinghy, rooms are not very clean, when i opened the patio door and then went to close it, the outside of the door was caked in dust and dirt like it had never been cleaned. Staff took forever to do anything. room was not ready, promised one thing that changed to another. breakfast was okay - the yogurt at the breakfast buffet was not even cold - how can you eat diary that feels warm to the touch. Very, very disappointing stay; ruined my vacation. the hotel put me in such a bad mood, was difficult to enjoy anything not that there is much to enjoy about Alexandria. they advertised a private beach which is not at the hotel; you have to be shuttled to it but shuttle was closed due to "winter" though it was quite hot when i was there. very disappointing.

Compare to four-star hotels. Convenient. Great location.
