Very friendly and helpful owners, lovely rooms, good breakfast.

Breakfast was lovely, plenty of choice. Very clean, Great parking, Perfect hosts.

Hospitality was on point as ever. Breakfast was lovely.

Easy parking. Friendly service., a family run Hotel. Reasonable menu in restaurant. Ale selection limited. Main road a little noisy. maintenance appears to be done in house . No shower curtain and single room was warm despite cooler weather, but fan provided.

Miserable….. I have nor anyone else we met there was happy. The owner is miserable, huffs and puffs at everything. Food is burnt and dry. It’s like he’s given up on everything. We felt as if we had entered his home and just decided we were going to help ourselves and claimed squatters rights. He should close the doors and sell up and prehaps be happy. We could not wait to leave and we’re very grateful we only had one night. Another couple were cutting their losses and finding another place to stay as they felt so unwanted and unwelcome and uncomfortable.

I recently stayed at Castle Lodge Hotel and had a mixed experience. The location is convenient, just off the dual carriageway and close to Ross-on-Wye — yet surprisingly quiet with little to no road noise. The staff were friendly and welcoming, and breakfast was a highlight, offering a good selection including a well-cooked hot option. That said, the room was quite dusty, with noticeable cobwebs, which gave the impression it hadn’t been thoroughly cleaned. The bathroom was very small and felt cramped, and I personally found the bed uncomfortable, though I appreciate comfort can vary for different people. Overall, it’s a charming place with potential, but it would benefit from improved housekeeping and some room updates. Fine for a short stay if you’re not too particular, but not without its downsides.

Convenient for a stay in Ross On Wye, a short walk along the river to get to the town.

Excellent family run hotel. Great location, beautiful old building. Friendly owners make you feel welcome. Excellent breakfast.

The property was quite traditional but very comfortable and clean. Our cooked breakfast was served in a lovely airy room downstairs and was delicious. It was ideal for our overnight stay in Herefordshire.

Was an ok stopover for a night, food was good, hotel needs a bit of tlc, room okish bit dated, or is that what’s called shabby chic ?

Great place with a stunning breakfast

Hotel was clean and comfortable, and the owners were helpful and courteous. We had dinner one evening and the burger was amazing, honestly one of the nicest burgers I have had. The hotel is a perfect location to explore the area, and we would book here again.

Hosts Georgina & Steve were professional, helpful & friendly - top class. Food was superb with great variety, steak & ale pie was a must eat choice, full English breakfast was piping hot and a great setup for the day ahead. Room was comfortable with reliable WiFi. Parking was spacious. We had a great three night stay and look forward to returning.

We felt at home throughout. Great location, a short picturesque walk down the river into Ross on wye. Lovely breakfast, did everything to cater for ourselves and our two year old. Would definitely recommend and stay again.

We stayed one night at Castle lodge. The owners are very friendly very comfortable beds and the dinner and breakfast was excellent. We wouldn't hesitate in staying again.
