There was no toilet brush to clean the toilet with and also I booked for 3 of us one Including sofa bed, late at night when going to sleep realised the sofa bed when pulled out had no sheet, pillows or duvet and when brought up we were just given it rather than it being done 9pm after travelling almost 2 hours.

Thank you to Sabrina the duty manager for responding to the issues we experienced positively and for taking ownership of them. She was a credit to the hotel, worked hard and clearly cared about the guest experience. Sabrina was also thoughtful as she knows the other issues we experienced (nothing to do with the hotel) following a recent visit to Mexico. We originally booked an accessible room. We did so purposefully because that room had a king sized bed. Unfortunately the room was tidy but was not clean. When we arrived there was unrine already in the toilet and the bathroom wasn’t to a standard one would expect for a £150+ (on average) room per night or the DoubleTree brand. It wasn’t a one off, it appeared to be a build up of a substandard lack of cleaning routine for some time as it included black mould in places. We were moved rooms as an ‘upgrade’ but it was only marginally better pointing to some systemic issues which we have been assured will be addressed. Overall it’s a nice property with some nice grounds and a bit of history; but we felt the rooms in person are dark and dusty and do not entirely live up to

The spa club and the hotel grounds is what make this hotel special. The rooms could do with a refresher and the house keeping of rooms during our stay left a lot to be desired as beds not made up and cups not cleaned and we had a suite room.

Excellent amenities- nice pool, sauna & hot tub Nice rooms Only negative is having to pay for parking when you are staying at hotel

A fantastic weekend away with all our needs met and more.

I had an issue with my room where the room they gave me was a lower grade and they did not say. I realised and challenged them. Emily was fantastic and organised the refund via Expedia and gave us a later check out. If that hadn’t happened this would have been a five star review.

The room was very difficult to find. The floors of the hotel were like a maze. You had to go to the second floor to come back up the corridor to get to the first floor. We got lost and took us a while to find the room. The receptionist did say it was confusing to find, so they are aware of it, would be helpful if they had someone to take you to your room as its not straight forward. We were very excited to try out the restaurant, but the food was a little disappointing and didn’t live up to our expectations. The food at the club was much better. The hours for the swimming pool was very convenient. The games on the lawn were entertaining and the grounds of the hotel were very pleasant. We had the family room, which was very tight for a family with teenagers and the view was sooo disappointing as we only had shrubs to look at in such gorgeous grounds. The parking is charged on a daily basis we didn’t quite understand why they charged for the parking as the hotel was on private grounds and the land was not shared. In our experience, hotels tend to charge when they are in city centres not out in the country. I had missed this when booking and it would have definitely deterred me had i have seen it before booking. Staff were very approachable and helpful with a welcoming smile on their face all the time.

Lovely hotel, beautiful grounds, lots to offer! We thoroughly enjoyed the spa & breakfast. Our room was very clean & tidy upon arrival & we were very well looked after by all staff.

Really brilliant stay and would go back

I stayed at DoubleTree with the main intention of relaxing and using the spa. Unfortunately, as I didn’t book spa treatments in advance, I wasn’t able to have the full experience I had hoped for. That said, the pool, jacuzzi, and sauna were all excellent, and the spa staff were very supportive and welcoming. Across the entire hotel, including the restaurant, the staff were attentive, warm, and genuinely made me feel welcomed. The level of service was both fulfilling and pleasantly surprising. Overall, a very positive experience, especially thanks to the people working there.

Stayed here for 2 nights for my birthday. Hotel is lovely! Room was clean and had everything we needed, nothing was too much hassle for the staff. Best breakfast we probably ever had, so much variety. We also had dinner which was outstanding. Spa and club facilities were great too. Will definitely be returning

Amazing staff. Lovely food and the hotel itself in parts is really lovely. Corridors feel dated and rooms could do with a refresh.
