The Reception staff whilst cooperative were not exactly present, felt quite awkward upon arrival. Room was well maintained, but not spotless and the decor felt modern. We had a maid walk in on us but brushed that off as a they immediately apologised. The bathroom was very basic. The hotel restaurant was fantastic and the staff extremely pleasant and chatty. Breakfast was as good as you can get, the dinner food was pretty nice too. The Spa and Pool facilities looked a little tired and due an upgrade. I might sound picky here but I’m just being honest with what I saw and maybe I just expected a little more in terms of cleanliness and condition of the hotel, as it’s one of the better looking when advertised.

Room was clean, hotel staff were very friendly.

Cold and lack of breakfast choice. After first coffee had to pay for second coffee. Service slow and priority given to clearing away. Five staff behind counter and long wait for coffee. Also table in bedroom should be in a skip.

Service at breakfast was poor, tables not cleared quickly, had to wait for juice and glasses, had to ask again for them to be brought out, by the time id waited at the juice area ny breakfast had gone cold Hiw many 4 star hotels do you go to and the bar closes at 9pm

Everything was great 👍 And when my car wouldn't start one morning, Dave - the maintenace man, got it going for me, and checked the next morning that it was starting ok That's service. Thank you 😍

4 or 5th time staying there as my family live nearby it’s a faultless place so nice

Rooms are lovely and although I wanted to use the leisure facilities I just felt too tired from my travels but they are great too. Meals and breakfast are very nice. Receptionist on check in was great but service can be slow and I had to chase people to get things done. Sort the service out and this would be excellent.

The staff were all very pleasant and helpful. The bedroom was very nice The leisure club looked like it needed some work doing on the shower and toilet doors Breakfast in the restaurant was very good. Dinner was not great for the price

Rooms were very tired and dirty, slightly better than a budget chain room for £130 a night during the week for a standard double!

Our room was spacious and spotlessly clean. There was water in the mini fridge and a Nespresso machine for coffee. I would highly recommend the Housekeeping Team, they do an amazing job. We have been staying at Formby Hall for 20 years or so and the one thing that has let it down has been the food quality and breakfast service, so this stay we were very pleased to see the improvements made to the whole breakfast experience. There was fresh fruit, excellent pastries, good quality bread for toasting. I didn't try the cooked option but we could see other guests enjoying it. The waiting staff were very polite and tried to provide quick service. This morning the hotel was full and breakfast crowded which meant we had to wait a long time for our pots of tea. However, this is a vast improvement on previous stays when you had to get your own tea /coffee from a very cheap machine. All the staff were well dressed and all had a smile. We are looking forward to our next stay.

The property is in need of refurbishing. However i enjoyed my stay there. the pool was good and so was the food although quite limited in choices.

Rooms were big and spacious clean just needed a bit of tlc we stayed in room 103 and the ceiling tile was in need of replacing as it had water damage and was exposed noticeably,the patio curtains was smeard with makeup? And the shower leaked water due to poor design fault. We went to the spa area and again this too could do with a refurb in the ceiling area as it was hanging down in certain places. Staff were very friendly and helpful.
