My wife and I stayed at the Gardens Hotel at the end of July 2026 for 3 nights, Wednesday to Saturday we stayed in room 409 and I am glad to say we had a lovely stay. The hotel is in a very central, lively location and while it is not a new building, its obvious the staff do a fantastic job of keeping it in good order. The room was fresh and clean, the bed was very comfortable and the bathroom was spotless. There was loads of storage, ample power points and lights and a window which opened out on to a busy street. We had breakfast included for the stay and it was well worth the price. Both the ladies at the breakfast service were very professional and friendly. There is a lovely choice of fruit, yogurt and breads which you can help yourself to and a decent choice of cooked breakfast which I thought were good quality and very tasty.
I found the reception staff very nice and helpful, we were able to drop our bags in to storage before check in (we arrived quite early) and for £6 per room we were able to store the bags when we checked out, as our flight was late in the evening this saved us carrying them about all day.
Bad points?? There is a small number of steps to gain access to the hotel from outside, where people were often sitting smoking, there is probably not much the hotel can do about this but it can give a bad impression and the smell of stale smoke can travel up the stairs.
However, this is a basic, budget hotel, so set your expectations.
