Location was different to what's on the map (it's right next door to the New County Hotel). The apartment was lovely though, looks like it's been recently refurbished and was very clean and comfortable. Kitchen was very well equipped with dishwasher and washing machine. £250 damage deposit seemed quite excessive. Not sure if they get a lot of trouble as housekeeping also came in during stay but didn't do any cleaning, make beds, or fold towels etc (I only knew they'd been because they folded over the edge of the toilet paper and emptied the bin) so I assume their main purpose was to check up on the flat.
The apartment I was assigned was right next door to the hotel where I picked up the room key. The check in was easy when I read the instructions and realised I had to go to the hotel reception. The apartment was immacuate and well equipped. Much better than a hotel room. There is not a lift so only suitable for people who can manage stairs with luggage. There are three floors.
We loved our stay at The Nelson Inn. We stayed in the 2 bedroom apartment. It is 2 floors with the kitchen, living room, and a half bath on the 1st floor and 2 bedrooms and a full bath (with a shower and bathtub) on the 2nd floor.
The kitchen has a small refrigerator (no freezer), clothes washing machine (no dryer), microwave, kettle, 4 top gas stove, small oven, plates, bowls, mugs and glasses, pots, cutlery, and utensils. There is a table with 4 chairs. The living room is cozy with a sofa and TV.
The main bedroom has a double bed, TV, dresser, and a wardrobe with some hangers. The smaller bedroom has a double bed, TV, and a wardrobe with some hangers. There is also a clothing iron, ironing board, hair dryer, a clothing rack to dry your clothes, and free WiFi.
The positives: this place is super cute and very clean. The staff are awesome! If we had any questions or problems they took care of it right away. It is right next to the Quays so there are lots of restaurants and shopping right next door.
The negatives: while it has been updated this is not a luxury accommodation. The downstairs furniture is very worn and in need of replacing (they are in the process of doing that). The stairs are steep so it’s not good if you have mobility issues, no air conditioning, and the office where you get the key is a 5-10 minute walk on an uneven sidewalk from the apartment. It needs a gate to keep vagrants out of the courtyard.
Despite the negatives, we will be staying again!
