Room good, staff great, could have had some entertainment on but still worth a stay

The staff were satisfactory. Local staff who were helpful. Perfect location and a good rate. The building is old. Access for disabled is poor, which they acknowledge. They are working on improving this. In the meantime, book elsewhere if you have mobility issues. Public areas are very dated, but clean. Available food although freshly prepared and competitively priced was not inspiring - eat elsewhere for your holiday treats. Room was clean, but nothing special. Overall a typical coastal hotel, dated and worn and in need of a makeover. Would I stay again? Yes, but with reservations - eat elsewhere.

Overall hotel was clean but needs updating, bit of TLC. Room was clean, had to ask for bin to be emptied but wasn't done, bit short staffed but the ones that were on duty were good and helpful, we had to pay for breakfast, which was not a problem considering the cost of the accommodation, really good choice of breakfast and well priced, parking was a bit hit and miss, disc parking which was fine providing there was a space available. Overall a good stay I don't expect a 5* hotel at 2* prices.

Very poor. I booked for 2 nights but left after 1. As a light sleeper I had asked for a quiet room. I was instead given one directly above a noisy bar and opposite another noisy bar across the road. Moreover the walls between rooms are paper thin and so I could hear every word of the expletive ridden conversations next door. Overall a nightmare stay which had got off to a bad start because my checkin was delayed by there only being one staff member who was handling bar service and cooking as well as checkin.

Staff nice and friendly but my room was old- fashioned and in need of renovation, like the hotel exterior. But cheap and clean. Overall, not bad.

Location

Our room was dirty , and the bathroom as well. There was dirty in the bathtub , also the sink was cracked and dirty. The room itself was not cleaned properly, dust and dirt on all surfaces and skirt boards , pics available if needed

in the middle of renovation i think as scaffolding outside but no work started early which is good. very quiet area ten minutes walk from town centre and 25 from beach so ideal location. stayed before and qill again great price also

Good location and friendly staff

Nice hotel but in need of t l v lovely thick bath towels and the breakfast is fabulous all in all for that I paid for the hotel I can't complain about the hotel I would come back but to be honest it's only because of the price and lastly the house keeper could visit more often

Close to Cliff top esplanade with stunning views and paths down to the beach and Pavilion and short walk to town centre. Local shops within 300 yards

The hotel is undergoing building work, but that didn't effect our stay. We were checked in to a room near reception, which was lovely - well decorated, cosy and spacious. They used all the space wisely to design the room and give a decent size ensuite bathroom with a huge walk in shower. Was really impressed. It was a home from home for the weekend while we worked in the area. It wasn't as noisy as we expected outside overnight, despite being near a bar, so was pleasantly surprised. We did have inconsiderate guests making noise after 10pm on the final night, chatting loudly and letting their dogs bark, but that's not the fault of the hotel. If you are staying on the ground floor, you probably will hear people chatting from 8am onwards with people checking out or going to breakfast. It was a minimal inconvenience really. The area around the hotel is great and it's not too far a walk to the seafront, so is a great alternative to super expensive alternatives down near the beach. Staff here were friendly and accommodating during our stay, plus, the breakfast was delicious with plenty of choice. Some minor niggles: the WiFi dropped in and out constantly and needs fixing. And on the morning of check out, the cleaner didn't knock and just unlocked our door to come in without checking we'd left - they did apologise, though would definitely recommend a quick knock to avoid that happening. Even so, we really liked the hotel and think once the building work is done, it will be a gem.
