It was serviceable

Very quaint pub, great landlord who cooks a fantastic breakfast. Limited parking but public paid carpark just around the corner.

Stayed here for 3 nights recently. It's a family owned business, with a good selection of local real ales. Everyone very friendly, cooked breakfast started each day on the right footing. Dog friendy - and he appreciated his own sausage each morning. Great location for walking - Kinder Scout and Derwent Water a short drive or Buxton, Bakewell or Matlock - perfect break

Fabulous place... I arrived late but still received a warm welcome. Tbe room was big and comfortable and the breakfast was amazing

Stayed one night enroute from one place to another. Room was comfortable although access up two steep staircases is not for the faint hearted. Shower over bath could do with a grab rail for safety, bathroom quite cramped. Nice view from windows. Pub does not have restaurant so had to go out for evening meal, but restaurants are a short walk away. Onsite parking is limited so had to park on street. Nice cooked breakfast, staff and locals very friendly.

Very convenient in village centre. Friendly and helpfull staff. Comfortable rooms in good decorative order and with all facilities available. Outstanding breakfasts. Overall, excellent value for money.

This is an old building so naturally it’s a little noisy as people go to their rooms or use their bathrooms but I couldn’t hear the pub downstairs at all. The owners were friendly and served up a fantastic breakfast. Parking is limited so I had to use the pay and display round the back on the second night but there were plenty of spaces there and it wasn’t expensive. This was a great base to visit the local village and hiking in the area which was the reason for my visit - to climb Kinder Scout with a group from nearby Edale.

I would have rated a lot higher if I hadn’t met the chef/breakfast cook. I had this misfortune after walking into breakfast room 1hr earlier than I’d requested breakfast as I’d woken early. He’s aggressive and rude. Wish I’d left before breakfast !! I didn’t bother to eat there Evening in bar was fun, I was made to feel welcome - good craft beers, friendly locals, and showing the football ✔️ So stay from breakfast room if your awake early, the bloke isn’t nice

Shower not very warm , to the point of shivering, not impressed

Excellent stay with a great room, very clean with a good shower. Comfy bed and tea and coffee facilities together with bottled water. Superb breakfast freshly cooked with some nice chat included

One night only.very comfortable and clean room. Friendly welcome from barman. A lively local pub with live football but really nice rooms for travellers. Breakfast perfect full english.

Lovely Inn near the Kinder reservoir. Very friendy staff, great comfy room, affordable pricing.

Staff were friendly and welcoming. Superb breakfast. Lovely bedding but mattress a bit too firm. Single glazed windows so it could be a bit noisy from traffic and patrons on the small terrace. It’s a sports pub, but to be fair there was very little noise late on.
