The Old Poets Corner is a lovely pub in a perfect location. Lots of real ales on tap, walking trails on the doorstep and a lovely village to explore. Lovely cafe (that doubles as a post office) 5 mins round the corner. 2 other pubs on the doorstep. Views are amazing.

I have never been treated so poorly as at this hotel. Upon arrival staff were generally unwelcoming, just gave me my key and that was that. Later I came down to request milk for my room, the person I spoke with audibly sighed and huffed and puffed to go get it. Upon return he said there was no milk. I expressed my disappointment as I really wanted a cuppa (having been hiking all day). Walked off expressing disappointment to myself to which he then shouted WHAT ARE YOU SAYING! I carried on walking as his voice was very intimidating to which he further shouted across the pub in front of diners SAY WHAT YOUR SAYING TO MY FACE! I was forced to address him to say all I was saying to myself was my disappointment and that he shouldn't be speaking with a paying customer at his hotel in such a way. Went to my room and barricaded myself in. Felt so uncomfortable there I got up early and left so I wouldn't have to see him again. As a solo female traveller he may me feel very intimidated. Completely unacceptable behaviour.
It's a shame as the room itself was fairly nice and comfortable with nice views.

The room was clean, Staff excellent, Bar fully stocked, Wifi good. Room was very small 10foot wide 20foot long, bed very soft, no good for people with back problems. Advertised as B&B cleaner had to get manager in to do breakfast which was basically a bacon sandwich. No breakfast the following day even though it was the chef who let us out of building!

A small drab room with a uncomfortable bed, ALL of the fittings in the small shower room were broken. We did not stay for breakfast.

A lovely place to stay in Ashover. Staff were kind and friendly and the accomodation is quiet and comfortable, if a little lacking in detailed maintenance in places. But despite that, I should be happy to return in the future

The hotel part of the pub was convenient for one night. The property was old and tired. The reception was neither friendly nor unfrienfly, rather indifferent. We exchanged very few words. 'Pal' and 'Mate' were two. The room was small but clean. Again tired. Wall paper peeling, bathroom needs grouting, no hot water. One bedside lamp no bulb, which could be dangerous, the other the the bulb was blown. In the moring at 0745hrs we appeared to be locked in. I exited the building via the fire escape.

Bedroom was clean and functional. Shower had engrained mould in the tiles. We were not told beforehand that there was a singer (of sorts) playing ruined any chance of an early night. Free wifi, was none functional. Food arrived within minutes and was poor. Were told we could order breakfast then text at midnight to say we couldnt.

Très belle chambre, grand confort et la cadeau de bienvenue était un vrai bonus nous qui adorons le Titanic !
Par contre petit couac, il n’y avait pas de produit d’hygiène dans la salle de bain pour la douche.
De plus le petit déjeuner était fermé ce jour là. Mais nous avons été orienté vers un très bon endroit.

Really good, and great value. Lovely setting, and great views from the pub garden and terrace. Good base for walks into Derbyshire, and great beers. Rooms are all themed to different Titanic beers, which is really quirky and nicely done. I was in Steerage, and the only negative comment was the very noisy water pump that goes off intermittently once or twice and hour through the night. Once you get used to the sound it was okay, but it does shock you a bit at first. If they could sort that, it would be great. Staff were welcoming and lovely. A hidden gem.
