I really liked this place in general and I would stay there again, facilities were fantastic, the location couldn't be better, its a lovely building and the staff were mostly very nice and helpful. I had the ground floor room and while it wasn't particularly secure, I didn't have anything valuable to lose so wasn't worried about the window not closing properly.
It was recently under new management apparently, so we had some slight mis-communications, I certainly would've been more comfortable ordering a hearty breakfast if it'd been clearer exactly what was included in the breakfast I paid for, but I was given the public menu to order from, rather than a guest menu and no explanation.
My friend did have some challenges with the chef getting upset about her having severe coeliac disease, and as we were sat next to the kitchen we could hear him grumbling and complaining and not taking it seriously which is a worry when a stray crumb might see her in hospital.
The unprofessional chef was a blip on an otherwise great stay.

We had a lovely comfortable bed, lovely clean sheets!
The breakfast was nice!
The staff were attentive.
But it hadn’t been cleaned very well at all & the carpets were thread bear & very dirty..
It does need a lot of work, money, time & effort spent on the place, which we were told that those efforts are going to be put in place.
We do hope so because we’ve been staying there for over 6 years now & would love it to see brought back to life..

Fantastic location. Quiet but within easy walking distance of town centre. No free parking but paid car park very close and plenty of space even at busy times (weekend/evenings only). Nice room with quirky decor. Comfortable bed. Delicious full English breakfast. Some cleanliness issues. Shower head full of limescale. Carpets in communal areas threadbare. Overall, though, we would stay again.

The room was a bit shabby, e.g. Dusty, wallpaper peeling and rusty bathroom handles. Also, it is a very old building, so if you're on the ground floor like we were, be prepared to hear upstairs guests creaking about every time they use the bathroom in the night. The bed was comfortable and staff were very nice, but limited breakfast - not very vegetarian or vegan friendly. Overall was nice to stay at for one night.

Perfect location, lovely spacious room with lots of character and the staff were so delightful. The breakfast was delicious and generous and the evening meal was one of the best we had in Stratford. My only complaint was the door of my room was stiff and had a really quirky lock. It was very difficult to open. Also stairs need new carpet.

Good location. Room clean and functional...no biscuits!! Intense smell of bleach in the room and no light in the dark corridor outside the room. [Reported both problems...no response] No bar available and hotel locked by 10.30pm. Cooked breakfast good but no fruit or buffet table. Generally an adequate stay.

The staff were very friendly and quick to respond to any requests such as more tea and coffee for the room. The room itself was a nice size. It looked out onto Shakespeare's school house which was such a beautiful sight every morning.
It was a little stuffy in the room and we had to prop the windows open with some books but this didnt let in a lot of air.
The wallpaper looked a little scorched, possibly from the lamp next to the bed and there was what looked like a little damp mark coming from behind the wallpaper.
They weren't doing bed and breakfast when I booked but there was a change of management just before our stay. We were offered to book breakfast a few days before our visit. I booked in for one breakfast for both of us, £15 pp. This was a little costly for what we had (one bacon sandwich, one sausage sandwich and a pot of tea) but there was plenty of options that would warrant the cost.
All in all, perfect location, beautiful view from the room, clean and staff were lovely.

The bathroom seemed a bit moldy, the sink was slow to drain, and there were big cracks in the bathroom wall too. I could hear everything out on the street from my room as well, which was quite disruptive in the mornings when trucks would be making noise outside— free alarm clock. I was bummed breakfast only started at 8am; I had to leave the hotel by 8:15 so didn’t get to use the hot breakfast option. The staff was really kind and helpful, and got me oat milk for some cereal and wrapped up some fruit to-go.
Overall, not a terrible stay, but probably won’t stay there again.

Lovely place to stay. The staff were really friendly and helpful. I was able to have a gluten free breakfast and they stocked gluten free Peroni in the bar too.

Lovely few days here while visiting for a conference, bar had loads of choice, tapas meal was lovely and breakfast was great. Room and bed was comfortable. Highlight was the staff... From beginning to end they couldn't do enough and were excellent hosts. We'll be back!
