Unfriendly B&B. So-so location.

Wonderful B&B in a great location half way between the town and the lake. The room was very comfortable and had everything I needed for my 2 night stay. everything was clean and fully functional and they’d obviously considered previous guests’ feedback on all the little things like plenty of hooks on doors, shower shelf etc. The breakfast is great and you can choose what you want the night before. I’ll definitely stay here again!

We had a wonderful stay. The couple who run it were incredibly lovely and attentive, making us feel right at home. The place was spotless, cozy, and full of character. We would happily stay here again and highly recommend it!

We had a lovely stay at the Wanslea Guest House for our anniversary weekend Steve and Tina were amazing hosts helping with our every need and serving a delicious breakfast each day, our room was very spacious, comfortable and had everything we needed, we would definitely stay here again and recommend it to others

Parking is a first thing, followed by location and the facilities. Everything 10/10

We last stayed 9 years ago, and liked the location and the room. Since then, the new owners have spruced it up - we stayed in the same room and it retains it's character while benefitting from an ultra modern, pristine bathroom alongside the tastefully refreshed decor. In addition, you're now given a parking permit which can be used around many nearby towns (you might need to ask for it). Lovely breakfast, lovely people.

A very friendly welcome. Easy check-in. Dining options explained including excellent choices. Very clean and tidy room and ensuite. All the expected facilities. Comfortable bed and no noise from other guests. Breakfast was very good. Good portions served quickly and attentively. Would highly recommend. When I'm in the area again this will be my first choice.

Wanslea House was amazing! Steve and Tina are great hosts. We felt very welcome and right at home. We loved the recommendations for things to do — everything was perfect. Breakfast was also great; be sure to try the homemade jams too! We’ll definitely be back one day.

I love the area the food option the bed is very comfortable access to the transport as well. Everything is around unique and perfect for me. I have a lovely stay with my daughter and I’m gonna recommend it for everybody.

Excellent guest house. We stayed in the king-sized room which was decently sized and had a recently refurbished bathroom. The room was spacious, airy, and bright. The place was lovely and we met one of the owners, Steve, who was an absolutely excellent host, incredibly friendly, welcoming, and genuinely interested in his guests. His delightful conversations and willingness to share invaluable local tips truly enhanced our experience. The breakfast which was included in the reservation was delicious and tasty. The rooms came with kettle and tea bags with milk pots and sugar. There was free parking in nearby car park which was 2 mins walk away from the hotel.

Fresh and friendly accommodation conveniently located within walking distance of Ambleside, in the heart of the Lake District. Our hosts were ever so friendly and attentive, and the breakfasts were excellent. Our room was clean, comfy and cozy too. Thanks for everything!

Clean and comfortable place to stay in a really convenient location. It is a short walk to Windermere one way and Ambleside town centre the other. Breakfast was excellent (the bacon is amazing) in a spacious, informal dining room and trust me, you must try the rhubarb and ginger jam. Parking is catered for and not a problem. Owners Tina and Steve are such nice people - friendly and as helpful as could be and very knowledgable about the area. It will be the first place I check for availability when I'm next in Ambleside. A great stay - thank you Tina and Steve. PS - I made it up Wansfell Pike no problem :)

Delightful stay with excellent hosts & comfy facilities in the Africa Room (even the leopard print hair-dryer). Breakfast was good & flexible options available depending on dietary needs. Good advice on places to visit by the hosts.

A well kept B&B run by a lovely, friendly couple. Only a short walk from Ambleside and very close to a bus stop with frequent buses all through the central Lakes.

Quick check in, very good breakfast, comfortable and clean room. The owners are very friendly and provide great suggestions for walking trails or places to see / eat. Walking distance to several restaurants and beautiful trails.

We stayed at the Wanslea on a short motorcycle trip to Ambleside. The rooms were spotless and the building is in an excellent location. A member of our party was staying in another hotel but the owners of the Wanslea were kind enough to accommodate him for breakfast. The entire experience was lovely and the owners were incredibly welcoming. Thank you for a pleasant stay.
