Fasil, the manager, sent the hotel shuttle to pick us up at the airport. The hotel was modern but with marble floors and high ceilings to keep it cool. It had a great restaurant especially for breakfast which was included. It had a terrace which was obviously a favorite gathering spot for locals as well as guests. Overall the service was great and the rooms were incredibly clean and comfortable.

Front desk called on my local phone before noon and demanded check out or would took out my luggages. Didn’t wanna extend but threatened to charge more. Didn’t not wanna charge to your room after service. I won’t stay at this place for free because your rights & dignity will be taken away. I don’t know why such a place listed on Expedia.

WARNING: no security cameras or security screening. Bag was stolen from my room. Follow up by management was, at best, confusing, contradictory and accusatory. While property hss some positive attributes their faulure on security and botched follow up (to put it mildly) leads me to conclude that one should avoid this hotel at all costs. Plus its far from lost tourist points in Gondsr.

Hotel is nice, clean with very friendly staff, but far from Gondar's city center, where most major attractions are located and very noisy (there are two clubs just next to it that play loud music). Relatively expensive compared to similar hotels in the area.

We stayed here one night on our way to the Simien Mountains. The hotel was bright and clean. The staff were very attentive and gave great service. Our room was very clean, bed was comfortable. The shower in the bathroom was particularly nice, with sliding clear shower doors. Everything in the room and bathroom worked. There is a nice balcony outside the dining room where you can take your meals. We were very happy with this hotel.

Clean hotel in decent area BUT the rooms are far too hot (I’m guessing around 30C). No air conditioning or fans. No window screens or bed nets. So one must choose between being hot and buzzing mosquitoes (to say nothing of possible malaria risk). Either way, not conducive to sleep. Not recommended.

I had accidentally booked the wrong night for our stay at the Gondar Plaza Hotel. When we arrived and I panicked about this, the staff was SO accommodating. They said no problem and were able to find us a room and we were able to sort out the finances quite easily. For that we are very thankful otherwise we wouldn't have a place to stay! The staff were TERRIFIC. They gave us a room, helped us with directions, called us a taxi to the airport. Very accommodating and lovely. It is a very clean and nice room and likely the better of the bathrooms we have seen at hotels. They restaurant has a cute balcony and the hotel is in proximity to other hotels and a big street. Not far from the core by a bajaj/auto/tuktuk. My one very minor qualm is that we had mosquitos in the bedroom so it would be great to have a mosquito coil or netting on the windows but we managed to kill the few that were there and otherwise the room was great. Would highly recommend this hotel to stay in Gondar.

The property felt very new and cheerful, but the service was the absolute standout feature of this hotel. The staff in the lobby were warm and welcoming throughout our stay, but what really impressed me was the continued hospitality well after I'd checked out. I returned a few days after leaving to use the lobby wifi, and the manager remembered me and made me feel incredibly welcome. You could sense the genuine comradery and commitment to excellence among the staff; one of the staff members even escorted me to a market a few miles from the hotel to do some pre-Timkat shopping. Perfect home-base for your visit to Gondar.
