Le Vieux Castillon

This is a high-end destination place with a wonderful pool. However, if you have a pool, people will use it; if they use it, you need to have staff who can make sure it's clean and that there are enough towels. If you offer water, make sure the jug is full. As for the room, look at the photo in the website: even a standard room has a curtain over the bed to soften the harshness of the whiteness of the room... it's not too much to ask to have the actual room match the one in the photo... Finally, when you have a parking issue--the lot is five minute walk from the hotel--make sure your staff is trained to deal with people coming back from dinner after 10pm. We had a problem they apologized for, so no need to repeat the experience. In general, great potential with properly staffed facility (just because you are full doesn't mean you cannot serve your guests). For the kind of money this place commands, please make the effort upfront and not apologize afterwards.

Gorgeous, extremely unique, and chic boutique hotel perched on the top of a hill in the heart of the surrounding village. Unmatched French charm with fabulous dining, a quiet, authentic, local setting, and extremely friendly staff. Definitely a lovely, off-the-beaten-path luxe stay in the south of France.

My partner and I travel extensively and use the Michelin Key selection as a quality guide. Le Vieux Castillon was a serious disappointment. Shortly after check-in, a staff member damaged our large Rimowa suitcase while delivering it to our room — the handle was bent and the case could no longer close. The receptionist acknowledged it and took photos. Reasonable so far. That changed the moment she consulted the manager by phone. She returned with a completely different attitude: no written acknowledgement, no liability, no compensation — only an offer to have the same employee attempt a DIY repair. We had no real choice but to accept, as the broken handle meant the suitcase wouldn't fit in our car. It came down, but the case is now bent and will need professional repair. Accidents happen. What stays with us is the dismissiveness that followed — the entire staff treated us as if we were the problem for the rest of our stay. For a Michelin Key property, the gap between the physical product and the standard of guest care was striking.

Wow - what a beautiful hotel and grounds. The pool is as stunning in person as it is in photos. Great amenities, large room, excellent everything.

Amazing setting and property especially for the value

We had the most wonderful stay at La Vieux Castillon! The hotel and views were idyllic, the staff kind and attentive, and the food absolutely delicious. We visited as we are considering hosting an event at the property, and were particularly impressed with Salomée, who was professional, knowledgeable, and able to answer all of our questions. In short, we would highly recommend it to anyone looking to escape the city and recharge!
