ホテル アガヴァ

We returned to Hotel Agava for another two-night stay. I must now downgrade the good review I gave them on Dec. 4. Once again, the biggest problem was their refusal to honor my request for 3:30pm check-out, despite the fact that the hotel was almost empty. I had requested this at the time of my reservation on Hotels.com, explaining that we had a long wait before our train. This was summarily refused. On neither two-night stay did we receive any housekeeping. Very disappointing. This is a good facility with a front-desk person totally insensitive to the needs of elderly people.

Overall, a good find which I plan to use in future trips to Tbilisi. Comfortable, nicely appointed rooms. One staff member spoke English, but all were nice. I was disappointed that breakfast was not available, and that high prices were charged for instant coffee. I went to the lobby on the morning of departure to request a late checkout, but there was nobody available with English so I could not do so. When I returned later, the English-speaker refused my request because I had not asked earlier. I had to sit in the lobby for four hours before my train,when the hotel was almost empty. Not appreciated.

We were promised a studio apartment (which usually includes kichenette etc), but got a regular self-contained room. We asked for quiet room, but due to placement along busy thoroughfare you never get rid of traffic noise. We dropped the room with jacuzzi as it is particularly hit by traffic noise. Rooms are nice in modernized rococo style. Tv has no English-language channels, but seem specialized in Turkish-language channels. Service is mediocre.

Excellent value for money

We were just using the hotel for 1 night in Tbilisi before we embarked on a road trip. For that purpose, the hotel was good. The room was comfortable and cabs could easily access it. If you are looking to explore Tbilisi, you will have to take cabs down to the old town. The room was comfortable and spacious.
