This is a great place to stay in Kumbakonam. The property is large and has many interesting features. The staff are good. I will visit again possibly in winter.
I have only 2 negatives to say -
1. I had ordered a Beetroot soup and it was almost cold and the quantity was not impressive too. Was just not fair to charge for this.
2. Next day morning breakfast [This was a solo visit] ... no one bothered to ask me for dosa or coffee. Was pathetic.
Overall, I was not impressed by restaurant and value for money in the restaurant.
Next time I will never eat here there are better places like Mangalambika nivas, Gowrikrishna etc. For a vegetarian like me to eat idly and dosa...i need not spend a fortune here. Moreover, things like soup were very disappointing.

We had a joyful 4-day stay at Mantra Koodam and it was the highlight of our trip. If you are traveling as a group, I highly recommend the Pannaiyar Illam.
The Highlights:
The Villa: The house is stunning and well-appointed. The high ceilings are a lifesaver -- they kept the rooms incredibly cool and airy despite the warm afternoon sun. The indoor swing (oonjal) and the intricate bronze Dashavataram artwork gave the space a truly authentic, soulful feel.
The Food: Incredible South Indian cuisine. Our favorite ritual was visiting the on-site tea stall (kadai) for authentic Kumbakonam specialty coffee every morning and afternoon.
Wellness: The in-house Ayurveda treatments were professional and deeply relaxing -- a must-do after a day of temple visits.
Service: The staff are exceptionally welcoming and the grounds are beautifully maintained, offering a peaceful escape.
Bottom Line: This isn't just a hotel; it’s an experience. We left feeling refreshed and can’t wait to return.

Beautiful property, remote detour needed to reach it. Restaurant has quality food but service is super slow! I ordered a thali and waited forever. There was some loud noise due to construction. There are peacocks, beautiful sculptures of gods and goddesses.

Belle propriété, assez entendue, en pleine campagne, au silence. Belle chambre, bien équipée, literie un peu trop ferme, belle salle de bain à ciel ouvert. Grande piscine.
