A breath of fresh air after a less than eventful trip to Ibo. I booked a night at Ulala to be close to the airport for my flight. After arriving I was truly disappointed that I only booked one night. From arrival to departure everything at Ulala was fabulous. When you arrive at the property you can hear and feel the ocean breeze and its exactly what I was looking for. Due to no receiving the email the property sent regarding our arrival the manager was not on site when we arrived but the staff who were there checked us in quickly and offered a nice welcome drink which was definitely needed after the ride from Ibo. We were starving when we arrived and wasn't aware of needing to order a lunch in advance but the property whipped up what is probably the best vegetable quiche I've ever had. It actually tasted even better than it looked which had me drooling as soon as it was placed on the table. I wanted to snap a photo because it looked so pretty but in my haste to taste I forgot to capture a picture. The manager for the property arrived fairly quickly and he to was just as amazing as the other staff. From lunch, to our room, to dinner, then breakfast everything just got better and better. If you are looking for a relaxing place with great food, great beach, great beds, and great staff, while in Pemba, Ulala is definitely the place to be. I look forward to visiting again.

Ulala is perfect for retreating along the beautiful coast of Pemba. The beach is breathtaking, unspoilt, private and safe. George and his team ensured our stay was very comfortable. We highly recommend the excellent food and caipirinhas!

Sending a massive thank you to Georges and Emma for such a fantastic week at Ulala. The accommodation was lovely, and the hotel is beautiful - overlooking a spectacular beach. Special thank you to all the cooks as the food was a highlight, and to all the staff at Ulala, who couldn't have been more helpful or more friendly. I'd love to come back.

Grossartiger Aufenthalt in der Ulala Lodge, direkt am eigenen Strand etwas südlich von Pemba gelegen. Der Service ist hervorragend, die Lodge wird von den französischen Besitzern und ihrem Team aus dem benachbarten Dorf sehr warmherzig und gastfreundlich geführt. Die Zimmer sind schön, im afrikanischen Stil, allesamt sauber, die Moskitonetze sind dicht. Allerdings ist es schon Afrika, da sollte man sich keine Illusionen machen - aber wenn man das nicht ab kann, sollte man eh einen Bogen um Mozambique machen. Entspannter Strandurlaub mit gutem (französischen) Essen und einem türkis-grünen Meer direkt vor der Nase ist hier auf jeden Fall drin. Die Preise im Ulala sind für lokale Verhältnisse sehr erschwinglich (Mozambique ist generell eher teuer). Insgesamt sehr empfehlenswert!

The staff needs a lot of training. The hotel is in a very nice location, but you only can eat in the hotel, as there is nothing good around. The problem is that you have to tell at breakfast if you are having dinner, because the don't want to have nothing cooked in advance. not even a salad.

As close as nature as you can get with all the creature comforts at hands. It was a pleasure being woken up with the sounds of the birds singing. Star gazers will be in for a treat with very little light pollution to spoil you view. Great way to get away from it all,well recommended.

If you have to stay in the Pemba area, this is the only place to consider. Georges and Emma are two wonderful hosts and the staff is great. The perfect place to get away and re-load batteries. Good food, endless beaches you can stroll along, with the peace of mind that you have a hotel guard discreetly following you at a distance, Paradise!!!
