Buccaneer was more or less what we expected based on other reviews. It worked for our family because we wanted an affordable option right on the beach (not just a dock over the water) because our kids are little (2 and 4). As mentioned by other reviewers the free breakfast at Bibi’s restaurant was frustrating because they never opened before 9 and our kids were hangry by then. The room was clean except that the place is infested with some type of termite so there’s a coating of their discharge on different surfaces (fortunately not over the beds). It’d be great to have some sort of outdoor shower to thoroughly clean off sand before heading into the room. The coffeemaker we were given was so dirty that we didn’t use it and the fridge was dirty and smelled bad (but was still handy to have). The woman overseeing the place was very kind to us (she helped me find some material and scissors to make a temporary sling for my daughter). The sand fleas were pretty bad, especially in the evening, but that’s not the hotel’s fault and is probably a problem everywhere. A/C in the master room was also great to have. The balcony overlooking the water and lovely beach right there made it all worthwhile.

While the owner/host was very nice and accommodating, the hotel was very outdated. It appeared that they started doing some cleanup but various areas were filled w trash.

The facilities are very old and could do with some maintenance but the buglalows are literally on the beach so we couldn't complain about how rickety the stairs might be, or slanted the floor was because the view was so incredible! The staff were so extremely friendly and helpful. We would recommend staying here based on location, but don't expect a brand new resort if booking.
