Caledonian Hotel (Ullapool, Scotland, IV26 2UG) Stayed for 2 nights at £80 per night (breakfast not included). We arrived late and were quite tired after traveling, but unfortunately found it difficult to sleep due to significant noise from outside — including traffic, trucks, and the nearby ferry. The hotel’s location directly on the main road and close to the harbour makes it quite noisy at night. Rating: 1/10 On a positive note, the room itself was clean, spacious, and comfortable, with a modern stand shower. Rating: 10/10 We didn’t use many of the hotel’s services, so I can’t comment on those. However, we did decide to have dinner in the hotel restaurant on the second evening, and sadly, that was another disappointment — both the food and the service fell well below expectations. Rating: 1/10 Overall: I wouldn’t choose to stay here again. A hotel should provide a sense of comfort and relaxation from the moment you arrive, and unfortunately, this one did not. If I could have canceled the second night without losing money, I would have checked out after the first.

We were headed north to Durness, but the snow, dark, and road conditions required us to stop last minute in Ullapool. I made our room reservation sitting at the gas station down the street. Despite us being late and very last minute, the staff welcomed us warmly (thank you, Linda!), in less than a minute we were set up in our room. The accommodations were excellent--clean and modern but set within an older authentic hotel. The breakfast was delicious, and we slept well. Although we only spent <18 hours in Ullapool, we're now eager to go back and learn more about the town. We'll definitely hope to stay at the Caledonian again.

Staff were friendly and welcoming. The hotel is in a good location with the option of some parking spaces or on-street parking which is free between 5pm and 10am. Our room was modern, bright and well appointed. We had a room at the front of the property with a good view of the harbour and hills in the distance. Overall a very enjoyable stay.

We worked in the hotel in 1977. The room we had was much smaller than previous rooms in the main building. The staff were very pleasant and helpful. Hotel is perfect setting for discovering Ullapool. Restaurant is spacious and breakfast was good.

Great staff. Good restaurant. Nice, clean rooms - if on the smaller side. All amenities. Would stay again.

The room was very clean. Tea, coffee and hot chocolate provided with milk, sugar and a kettle. Staff very friendly and helpful. Breakfast was delicious, sweet pastries, cereal, yogurt and full cooked scottish of your choice. Definately would recommend.

All was clean and well presented.

Breakfast was great, good quality food and lots to choose from. We also had a meal in the bar which was also delicious and top quality . Staff were very friendly and helpful. Only issue for us was the room was tired, didn’t get service at any point during our stay and don’t what ever you do look under the bed if you drop something. Other areas off hotel where clean just lacking that tlc in our room. Thanks for a great stay and great location.

Room was clean and fairly spacious, unfortunately our bed was quite firm, but still had a decent sleep. Appreciated the free mini bar.

Fairly average hotel for price and location in the highlands. Stings that you can get twice the quality for half the price anywhere else, but this is the highland tourist economy for you. Staff are friendly, but rooms are cramped and noisy. Floorboards will make even the lightest person sound like a herd of elephants above you.
