The rooms are basic but very reasonably priced and very clean, with aircon and storage for clothes, just what you need! Breakfast at 6euros/person was lovely and served to you in your room. We ate out on our room balcony with breathtaking panoramic views of the castle and surrounding mountains. Lots of hot water, clean fresh towels (daily if required) and shampoo supplied. TV in the room and a full size fridge so you can easily self-cater if you are travelling on a budget. Rooms are so reasonably priced! Our hosts could not do enough for us very helpful, knowledgeable and informative. Hostal Duran is right at the edge of the bustling village, filled with cafe's, bars restaurants (tapas was a favourite for us) and shops. There is also a very clean outdoor public swimming lane pool and a leisure pool, with the fabulous mountains for a back drop at 2euros/person(cash only for the pool). A couple of parks for younger kids, a winery for the adults, a selection of clothes and souvenir shops, a local pharmacy and a high street bank. Great air conditioned direct train link to Malaga Central and a regular local bus service (cash only for the bus). Local taxi drivers are a fountain of knowledge. Andalusia is the home of flamenco steeped in history with hidden gems such as Alora, a must see!

Alojamiento familiar. A la habitación y el baño le hace falta una remodelación. Bien ubicado, con aparcamiento publico a unos cinco minutos. Álora es una sucesión de calles empinadas en muchos casos que hace difícil el desplazamiento para personas de poca movilidad. Lo mejor el desayuno en la habitación y el precio de la habitación por noche

If not for the train disruption, my stay at Duran Hostel would have been perfect! The small room was a perfect fit for a solo traveler. It takes 25 minutes to walk from the station to the hostel because it is uphill, and around 15 minutes to return to the station downhill; this was perfectly suitable for me as I enjoy walking. The town is beautiful with a warm, friendly neighborhood, and you can sit at LA SEDE to watch the clouds drift by while enjoying Spanish red wine. The hostel staff are helpful and friendly, and I would definitely recommend their single rooms to any solo traveler. I was pleasantly surprised to find a powerful shower and a bathtub. The room was clean and the bed was comfortable. I have no complaints about the decor, as it is a hostel after all! ​However, the train disruption made my journey quite difficult. There were limited trains from Málaga Central to Álora, but I was aware of this before I made my booking and had planned well in advance. Unfortunately, the train terminated at Cártama, and I needed to take a replacement bus, which turned a half-hour journey into an hour. Even more unfortunately, the train to El Chorro was also cancelled, and the replacement bus departure time was too late for me to start my adventure at the Caminito del Rey. ​I want to take this opportunity to thank the Renfe staff; without their help, I don't think I could have completed my journey. Renfe even arranged a taxi to take me to El Chorro so that I wouldn't miss my adventu

Clean, basic, but adequate for my needs. Fridge was noisy & too big for the room. No kettle in room. Breakfast on request. Nice view of the castle from my balcony.

Lovely place in a lovely town, you don’t get closer to centrum.

Tiny and cold room. The aircondition that can heat the room is old and noisy. Also, it takes 10 minutes before you get hot water in the shower. How can this hotel be rated so high?

Right in the central alora! The room needs little tlc and they need to be sure about where we can park and where we can’t that would help the guests

El personal super agradable, el desayuno muy económico y muy bien de alimentos. Todo muy limpio La primera noche un señor con los ronquidos me despertó pero eso el alojamiento no tiene la culpa. Bien ubicado, de todo cerca. Genial

This hostal is in the city center, the staff was amazing, the facilities are very clean and maintained. The room had a small fridge and air conditioner and the room and bathroom were spotless! The only downside was parking, however there’s a public parking lot about a quarter a mile away.

Good hotel, calm locality and close to big centers

An excellent stay at the Hostal Duran. The place is clean and well manged by the lovely owners and staff. The Hostal is centrally located with good public transport links, the bus stop for the Caminito del Rey is only a hundred metres away and the train station is around 15 minutes walk or a bus from the same above stop, all restaurants and bars are on your doorstep. A recommendation, choose a room with a panoramic view (Terrace), the views to the castle are wonderful.
