ウォーターランド

Waterland is a small resort of around 5 individual villas on the banks of a river. We stayed in Elephant villa which has a small, private pool and decking area. We loved the indoor/ outdoor bathroom with fish! The area is quiet and great for just sitting and watching the wildlife. Food is eaten in a small restaurant and although choice is limited, the quality was great. The staff were friendly and helpful. Slight downsides... The resort is really tucked away ,so be sure your taxi driver knows where he is going. Ours took a while to locate the hotel. We wished the staff would collect the plastic waste that washed up at the end of the decking, or provided waste sacks for us to do it. Its a shame having to overlook plastic and garbage as you gaze at the scenary. There isnt anywhere to walk to so just go and enjoy relaxing .

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Waterland. It is convenient for the airport but in a quiet spot, situated by the river. It is beautiful. We had a great private villa with a good size pool. The staff and service were excellent. In particular Raganan was brilliant and looked after us very well. Incredibly good value for money and a short Tuk Tuk ride into Negombo town.

Wir genossen unsere Zeit wirklich sehr. Wir hatten die Villa Peacock gebucht und die entsprach der Beschreibung. Der private eigene Pool war sensationell. Die Aussicht im zweiten Stock auf den Fluss und die Gegend sehr einladend. Das Personal war sehr zuvorkommend und freundlich. Wir konnten 2 perfekte Abendessen auf unserer privaten Terrasse genießen. Die Qualität vom Essen, egal ob Frühstück oder Abendessen, war hervorragend. Sehr gerne wieder.

Very friendly and helpful staff, location is very isolated so you enjoy some peace of mind during the day but its bloody scary at night specially your inside a jungle riverside, not flexible at late checkouts which

friendly staff, lots of power cuts when we were there. Air conditioning wasn't working properly so the room was very hot. We were only there for one night so didn't really get into the feel of the hotel but we would have looked for somewhere else if the problems continued. breakfast was not very good.. Bread basket consisting of 2 hard croissants, 2 cup cakes and 2 hard boiled eggs! really less than impressed.. they did reduce some costs because of the issues, which was good of them. there was no view of the canlal from the room, due to a privacy there is a hedge obscuering the view.

Generally excellent with very good staff, but with just a small complaint. The room was lovely, but small things slightly spoiled it, such as the air conditioning was not very effective as the netting over the bed prevented the air from getting to you when you slept, which made it very stuffy. And while the bathroom was spectacular, the shower went everywhere. On the plus side the staff were wonderful and the food delicious.

Waterland has excellent facilities. We enjoyed our private plunge pool. Some might find the out of town location a little inconvenient, but we liked being along the canal near the river estuary.

Charmant hotel au calme vue sur la nature. Tres belle chambre. Petit Petit déjeuner copieux et très bon. Personnel disponible et aidant. Bien situé près de la plage de Negombo. Très bon endroit pour commencer votre séjour au Sri Lanka.

Om ni vill ha en vistelse i form av några dagars avkoppling så är detta perfekt. Man kan äta middag på sin privata terass och bada i sin privata pool. Maten är jättegod och prisvärd. Du kan ej bada i floden, men är ca 10 min med tuk-tuk till stranden. Supernöjd!

Good find for a night or 2. Chose this as fairly close to the airport. Small hotel exactly as advertised. Very helpful and friendly staff. Good size room and bathroom. Very nice and pleasing views.

We found Waterland quiet and tranquil nestled between a river and canal and close to the beach (about 600mtrs away). Quite surprising as you are close to busy/noisy Negombo City. The Staff, rooms and meals were excellent. Normally we stay on the beach where there are more restaurants and activity, but as we only stayed one night this did not bother us. It would be a good location to do day trips from. We stayed in a Canal View Room but really it should now be described as Garden View as plants and shrubs have been grown to ensure privacy from the canal and dwellings on the other side.

Lovely hotel. Can highly recommend the Elephant villa!

Nous n'avons malheureusement passé qu'une seule dans la splendide villa avec une belle piscine privée. Décoration soignée. Personnel très attentif. Dîner excellent pris sur la terrasse de la villa. Nous aurions pu le prendre sur la rivière. Un seul bémol, pas de petit déjeuner possible avant 8h00. Dommage lorsque l'on a un avion à prendre mais nous avons eu des fruits à la place. Un hôtel

We had the nicest stay in Waterland. Located in a fishing village, the villa offers a super pleasant experience in terms of comfort. You get to see life in the village as it is, every day...a genuine and true sri lankan life experience which you carry with you for the whole life. Beautiful villa, beautiful people, exquisite surroundings, nature, birds, elephants, monkeys...Loved everything, hope to be back...

We stayed at Waterland on our first night in Colombo for one night and the main issue with our stay was that it wasn’t for long enough. Me and a friend arrived at different time and Waterland arranged for both of us to be picked up from the airport. The hotel is a little way out of Colombo but it is in a lovely, quiet setting. Upon arrival, we were each greeted with a delicious drinks and shown around the apartment (even though my friend did not arrive until after midnight). Waterland also arranged for us to be taken to our next stop. The apartment was massive, with a sitting room and 2 bedrooms each with a large on-suite. We also had our own private pool and balcony with an amazing view of the waterways. The apartment was very clean and tidy and the pool was great (even though we only got to use it for a short time in the morning. Breakfast was quite traditional – fresh fruit, curd and honey (if you haven’t tried this – you must) followed by a hot option of your choice, served with drinks. The service was great, the apartment was great – we are just sorry that we didn’t book in an extra night!

Clean hotel although room smelt strongly of moth balls which were placed in the sink drains, shower drains and toilet. The smell transferred to our clothes and we could smell it days after leaving the hotel. I would have preferred a mosquito net rather than the UV-light bug zapper unit underneath the TV. Aircon and fan worked well. Quiet location, next to picturesque canal in a residential area so tuk tuk or a taxi journey required to beach or local restaurants (10 mins, approximately 3-4km away). Disappointed with 'restaurant' onsite, limited to tomato or carrot soup for dinner unless you pre-order main dishes 2 hours prior to restaurant opening time.
