The restaurant's food was delicious, and the experience of feeling its 800-year history was truly splendid.

Breakfast was delicious.

Lovely stay, calm and quiet. The room was spacious and had every thing we needed. Excellent location for Oxford and Blenheim Palace.

Given bad directions for the car park, breakfast was one of the worst I had every had, sausages rock hard and you could Snap the bacon, Bed not to my liking but that is no one's fault, you can't suit all the people. Staff when checked out was nice but the night one not very helpful

A bit faded around the edges.

The hotel was in a convenient location and easy parking. However, the hotel was very tired looking and in need of a refurb. The room and hotel was in need of a good spring clean. Definitely not good value for money.

Was looking forward to breakfast. It was pretty awful. No orange juice. Poor service. Got our order wrong. Bacon had been cooked hours ago. It’s a shame when the hotel is so pretty in a good location

Nice location, neglected hotel. Some rooms are difficult to access so beware if any mobility issues. Could be so much better.

What a poor stay. We went on a hot weekend and were given a room at the top of the building where the window was sealed shut and no air conditioning. It was unbearable. We finally moved on the last night, too little too late. The breakfast was overcooked, bacon hard, however the sausage was quite tasty. The restaurant though was very untidy, tables not cleaned, floors were covered in breakfast debris. Arrived on BH Saturday, only to find the bard had no draught beers or lagers, and it wouldn't be fixed until Tuesday. Wouldn't stay again, but will go back to Woodstock.

Traditional hotel in hundreds of years old building but maintained pretty well. The room, in particular the bed, was very comfortable and had a very spacious bathroom with a super shower. Breakfast was freshly cooked and tasty. We stayed here to support a visit to Blenheim Palace which is right next door.

Still waiting for manager to reimburse me for my stay it wasn’t very good due to the temperature in the room being around 45° which I ended up sleeping on the floor

Incredible bedroom great value! Breakfast was cooked fresh but did take a little time to arrive as it was busy but I went peak time so my fault. I didn’t eat in the restaurant as we went out to a lovely Italian brothertons I think it’s called

On a recent very hot evening the rooms were not ventilated and no fans were availible. Breakfast has also declined in quality.

I cannot recall leaving a review before however, our experience was one I do not wish to repeat. We booked a suite. It really was not worth the money. Tired, shabby & with air conditioning that sounded like a struggling car engine. The bed however was very comfortable but overpriced. The receptionists on both days were lovely & very welcoming. Breakfast was terrible, by 9.20am pastries had ran out, no water & they got our order wrong. When it was finally served the toast wasn’t toasted, it was lukewarm cheap warm bread. The scrambled eggs were like rubber. The full English breakfast was inedible. The mushroom was like the sole of an old shoe, the bacon was as hard as a shatterproof ruler. Need I go on? It was rather interesting to overhear from the other side of the ‘restaurant’ that it was like being in Fawlty Towers and I have to agree, it was!! We expressed our concerns to the manager about the breakfast and rather than waiting another 30 mins to have a replacement (yes, it took that long to be served) we just wanted to leave. We’ve never left a hotel so early to go home. This is a hotel that appears thrives on tourists and coach tours. For the couple that want a lovely time away we found so many more places within yards that we could not believe we opted for this hotel. Gutted.

Parking a big plus point.

Meget stille, nostalgisk og sjarmerende hotell i kort gangavstand til Blenheim Castle og den meget vakre parken. Gode restauranter i nærheten og i rimelig taxiavstand. Lunsj på Orangeriet - Blenheim var en opplevelse! Personalet på hotellet ga god service og var meget hyggelige. Fantastisk fugleliv både i byen og i parken. Absolutt verdt et besøk!

Shame, cool old building but pretty poor staff, pretty poor upkeep-window fell off the hinges, terrible breakfast. Probably wouldn't return sadly as we stay in Woodstock often.

We had an goid stay at Macdonald Bear Hotel. The staff were excellent throughout, friendly, welcoming and very helpful. Our room was a good size and the location is fantastic, especially for exploring Woodstock and Blenheim Palace. Breakfast was ok, decent options but limited buffet. The room itself was a little dated and it wasn’t the quietest stay, mainly due to some very loud air con, even though it was turned off but sounded like rushing water. Overall a pleasant experience thanks to the great service and convenient location.
