プールとサウナと露天風呂が最高に良かった。

The room was reasonably clean but looked very tired and dingey, shower head holder was broken and when using rain shower,bath screen too short and flooded the bathroom floor. Have stayed in a lot better for a lot less!!

We arrived at Thainstone Hotel on Saturday late afternoon . We asked to book our meal for supper as we were going to a show just across from hotel , as the show starts at 7.30 , we needed to book a meal a bit earlier , the receptionist said we can’t serve meals till 7.30 as there is a wedding in process. She said she will ask the chef but he said no . Even a sandwich would b better than nothing , but no . She said she couldn’t even offer a bag of crisps as they hadn’t any of them either..So we had no supper. This stay was supposed to be a special treat as we had just had our 47th wedding anniversary. In the morning we were supposed to have showers , I put on the shower , but or the time I got the right temperature the bottom was full of water and black stuff was coming out of drain , so that was no shower for us both . On the good side breakfast was really good . But for £163.99 and 4 Star we was extremely disappointed .

A night away with a great breakfast

East check in and check out. Breakfast is superb!! Staff all really nice. Excellent facilities and room size was fantastic. Clean room and facilities.

Fantastic hotel great staff friendly helpful. Food was excellent, came in a solo trip with my dog . The grounds were something else . Can’t wait to go back x

Bar was lacking a good sellection of malt whisky and they dont have the correct glasses for each drink. No dedicated bar person and the bar closed at 22.30pm

Personeel erg behulpzaam en vriendelijk. Ietwat meer uitleg over de grote van de kamers zou een suggestie zijn. Verder prettig hotel en voldoende parkeergelegenheid.

The place is picturesque and it could be so much more if they put effort in. The bed was comfortable but not the pull out bed. The breakfast was ok, staff was very limited sometimes you were waiting half HR for a seat when really there were not that many guests. The pool had some work done and the saw dust was sitting on the side for two days. Shame as it a lovely building.

We loved the stay at Thainstone. Extremely good value considering the pool and gym are included. The room was described as 9 square metres. It was much bigger than this. Breakfast was very good

The breakfast was 1st class on both hot and cold selection and presentation was lovely. The room was missing modern essential of bedside sockets for phones The mocktails were very dull indeed

Currently service at the Thainstone House Hotel is falling far short of expectations and leaving guests such as ourselves disappointed. The staff at the hotel work incredibly hard and are polite despite the pressures they are under. However too few staff meant that we encountered numerous service issues. For example, at breakfast there was a 10 – 15 minute wait for a table, food stuffs unavailable from the buffet, numerous uncleared tables and almost no staff around to take your order. Staffing in the evening was similarly problematic. Perhaps the crowning glory of an underwhelming experience was when, on Saturday night we were told we could not order cocktails as there was no-one on duty who knew how to make them. Although the hotel is taking bookings on its web site for its fine dining restaurant, it is closed to guests and all meals are served in the hotel bar. Ironically, after you have eaten in the bar, you receive an email asking you for feedback on your dining experience in the Green Lady. One reason we chose the Thainstone House was because of the restaurant. Knowing it is not available and to keep advertising it, is a questionable business practice. Sadly nothing in this post appears new, other guests have made similar points - having now stayed there, I understand why it is compared to Fawlty Towers

This “spa” hotel has no right to be called that. The leisure facilities were disgusting. When I arrived I was met with an employee complaining that she wasn’t at work but had to clean up as it hadn’t been done. There were wires hanging out of walls, broken wood in the changing rooms, wet paint on walls and doors. Zero warning signs! Broken tiles everywhere and the swimming pool was mouldy and had broken tiles on the steps entering the pool and a hole next to the jacuzzi where someone could easily get a foot stuck. Steam room- gross! Sauna was dirty and broken, rotting wood with visible nails sticking up! Outside the hot tub was empty and not working. The list goes on and I don’t have enough room to write everything! The nappy bin was stinking and clearly wasn’t emptied regularly! The gym had new equipment but again, dusty and dirty. Absolutely shocking! I complained to the manager and she made excuses for everything! We told her it was dangerous to even open the facilities to the public! If this was being inspected it would have to be closed, I’m certain of it. We got shown to our room which was in the roof. There was an awful damp/mould patch above the bed on the sloping ceiling. Creepy pictures and rotting windows! This room should not even be used until the ceiling was fixed! We moved to a different room and had a neighbour with a barking dog! We have photos! This hotel needs to close or have a massive renovation. Awful and ruined our day and night!

What should have been a special, long-overdue break turned into a complete disaster. My wife and I were evacuated in the middle of the night due to a gas leak—a genuinely frightening experience. We were abruptly forced out of the hotel with no proper reassurance or handling of the situation, which alone is unacceptable. We were offered “alternative accommodation,” but it did not have the same facilities or standard as what we had paid for. Given the circumstances and the time of night, we chose to make our own way home instead. This was our first time away since having our son, and the trip was completely ruined. To make matters worse, the hotel has refused any refund or compensation, despite the stay being cut short due to a serious safety issue entirely outside of our control. That response speaks volumes about how they treat their guests when something goes wrong. Safety concerns, a ruined stay, and zero accountability. I would strongly recommend looking elsewhere if you value basic duty of care and customer service.

We were evacuated to a Holiday Inn in Westhill at early morning because of a gas leak. The staff were most helpful, the breakfast the previous morning was sufficient. As we are both in our eighties was quite stressful. Ann

Staff were all lovely, both evening meal and breakfast was great. Big menu with lots of choice for breakfast. Room was lovely and the most fantastic powerful shower I've ever had

Staff where very good, amenities terribly, closed bar and restaurant at 6pm, on 31/12/25, everything was geared for there ball, (which was a shocking price of £90 plus), room was noisy with coughing from gent next door every few minutes, people walking and moving above, doors creaking and banging every time people coming and going, asked for another room, told there was none, if you wanted a drink you had to ask receptionist, who then showed you the room to sit in which only had 4 tables but not enough chairs, they opened a door in the room, and what was there a BAR, got chairs, then they locked door, after getting our drinks, not enough staff on duty, and a staff member said the same thing, had a meal in restaurant on New Year day, with no heating, people sitting with coats on. There was a log fire with plenty off logs, when asked why was it not on, said it doesn't put out a lot of heat, have a picture of a guy with his hoody top up over his head, he was sitting at the back of us, will definitely not be going back there, staff where very friendly and helpful, but where run of there feet, i would imagine the people at the ball had a good time, at the expense of the people who did not go. Staff were incredibly nice and helpful, especially Fay (hopefully I've spelt her name correctly). Food is brilliant and the bar area is such a nice place sit. Only thing I would maybe say is the lighting in the restaurant is quite bright but that is being a bit pernickety. I would highly recommend staying there. I very much doubt you'll find better in the area.
