Good hotel, we stayed in a garden suite, and the bedroom was spacious, 2 comfortable chairs and a fab bathroom with separate shower, bath and 2 sinks. Liked the coffee maker as well as kettle and it had a fridge. Negatives: the pillows were really soft and they didn't have any other options. The main issue for me was breakfast: I had added to my booking that I was gluten and yeast free. However, the first morning it was not clear what of the hot food was gluten-free, and the chef came and talked to me to clarify. The bar menu has allergen information so why not the breakfast menu. Day 2, I really didn't fancy a cooked breakfast - so apart from fruit and yoghurt there was nothing I could eat. No gluten free cereal, crackers. The manager came over and said he'd never been asked before!!! Day 3, they had got gluten free porridge or granola. In this day and age I can't understand why there isn't more choice.

Attended a wedding which was very well organised by the hotel - the food excellent and lots of staff available throughout.. Stayed at the hotel and the check in from 3pm was great - room ready before. The room was traditional very comfortable. Coffee and tea with biscuits in the room. Great location for getting out for a run to the canal but also excellent Leisure facilities. We used the pool, sauna, steam room and the jacuzzi which was all well maintained. The Cade bar was great - really good food available.

The staff were friendly and extremely helpful. The jacuzzi and pool were really nice. Yes there is a lot of furniture in the rooms and it is a little dated, but we managed to find space to accommodate both if our ebikes in the room with a little bit of shifting around. Breakfast was excellent. Would definitely stay again, this was our second visit.

Great location for trip

Very welcoming, friendly and comfortable stay over the weekend for my girlfriend & I. Had great spaces inside & out for us to rest ahead of & recover following the Newport Marathon! Very reasonable food in the bar & nice, rejuvenating pool & jacuzzi! Thank you

Business stay, large pleasant and clean room with en suite, easy parking and good leisure facilities, hotel bar and relaxing seating.

Clean room although cleaners tried to come in on our last morning before check out time. Dud apologise. Breakfast was good although sometimes a little tight on the coffee. Toast machine under does the toast on first pass, burns it on 2nd. Staff ok but a smile wouldn’t go amiss

All the breakfast items was cold the room was clean but small and dated bed was solid as a rock think the 3pm check in is abit late surely they can get room done by 1pm definitely wont rush to say there again most probably use premier inn instead

On arrival at 5.45pm was told that would need to eat at 6pm as was too busy later on, 2nd evening was a curry event so had to travel out both evenings for food. Was told breakfast was u till 10am however it finished at 9.30am. Was told checkout on the Saturday was 10am however it was 11am on weekend, also housekeeping entered our room at 9.10am to clean we hadn’t even had our breakfast delivered which was due at 9.45 and was cold.

Breakfast was great, staff really nice and friendly. Room was clean and tidy, only gripe would be the size and position of the tv. It’s low down and small but apart from that it’s all good

I received an email on the Friday saying because they were putting in a new jacuzzi and haven’t finished the work, there would be no access to the sauna, steam or jacuzzi (of course). It was too late to cancel, but the whole point of staying in this particular hotel was for access to these amenities. Spoke to the manager and sent emails expressing disappointment. There was nothing in compensation offered at all. Very poor!

This is not a pet friendly hotel. Lovely hotel and staff. Spa facilities are excellent and more work is in progress. Evening meal in the restaurant was excellent as was the breakfast. We certainly will return.

We only stayed one night so can’t comment on Spa etc. We had a warm reception upon arrival, given our room card and directed to the room. Our first impression was how warm the room was but looked nice. On closer inspection we found bin had not been emptied from previous guest, first score down! We then went into bathroom to find a filthy toilet base, it was terrible! second strike! My husband went to wash his hand and the sink didn’t empty properly, third strike 😔. No shampoo which is very surprising for a four star hotel. We had body wash and soap, both looked the same. TV was poor couldn’t watch BBC1 or 2. Didn’t look like it had been hovered either. If we were spending more time there we would have asked for another room.

The room was very clean and the stuff were very friendly. I am definitely coming back :)

Clean and spotless room. Home from home, with friendly and helpful staff. The new owner has started making positive changes to the hotel. Excellent choice for a stay in Cwmbran.

Helpful staff

From the moment we arrived we were made to feel welcome. Reception was clean and spacious, and check-in was so easy as we had checked in remotely before arrival. Our room (junior suite) was huge and really well equipped. Really comfy bed and an amazing nights sleep. Breakfast was delicious and plentiful. Watch out for the coffee - it’ll definitely wake you up! We stayed for lunch after che out and we weren’t disappointed. Food was lovely - thank you chef. If I had to find a negative to my stay it would be that we were advised that the garden suites below have fire pits and therefore to make sure the outer doors were shut. However, no-one mentioned to make sure that the vents on the side windows were closed. We didn’t notice that the vents were open so came back to find the room smelling of smoke. A small omission, but it could make all the difference. I must say that the team at Parkway are wonderful. All our interactions with staff were wonderful. Really efficient and friendly and very very helpful. We will be booking again on our next trip to Wales.

The room was upgraded to a suite and the amenities at the hotel are excellent. I would certainly book again.

The staff are so friendly. Had my 4 yr old granddaughter with me they fussed her and she loved it. The waiter at breakfast was amazing with her great service.
