Lovely looking Hotel, very much looks like a grand country house from the front and in some beautiful grounds.
The positives are:
*plenty of parking available
*lovely large room, altho it feels dated, we felt it’s in keeping with the age of the property
*staff are lovely and friendly
*restaurant evening meal was superb, was bit pricy but the quality was excellent AND it was air conditioned
Now for the not so positives:
*could really benefit from a fridge and a fan In the rooms, we arrived during the heatwave and the room was so unbearably stifling. Managed to get a fan after going to reception but it was a fan in name only! Was absolutely no use to man nor beast! Was the tiniest desk fan and had no oomph at all. Not good for trying to get a little breeze to get a nights sleep!!
*Bathroom was very dated and due to it being a wheelchair accessible the sink was very low as was the mirror on the wall, so hubby had to almost bend in half in order to have a shave to be able to see in he mirror. The shower is over the bath and was a very dated shower head, although the pressure was fine, it was hard to maintain he temp via the taps.
* Breakfast was a let down! We were expecting great things after the excellent meal the evening before, and we got down to breakfast 15 mins after the start and the bacon & mushrooms were dry and hard! Sausages looked good but tasted of high cereal and not much actual meat.
Overall a pleasant stay but if coming in a heatwave would bring my own fan
