当初ベルニナ急行に乗った後バスで移動してルガノに1泊してミラノへという予定だったため、便利な中心地の3星ホテルのスイートルームを検討しておりHotels.comのスタッフの方にも、部屋の設備の内容を確認していただいたりしておりました。わざわざ現地まで電話してくださったのに掲載内容や写真での矛盾やおかしいと思うことについての疑問が解決せず。それならと2泊にしてこちらのホテルに変更。結果大正解。まず思ったよりは不便な立地ではなく、ブレ山へのケーブルカー乗り場はホテルを出てすぐ目の前。又そこからシティトレインの発着もあります。坂を下れば便数は少ないもののフェリー乗り場があります。レイクビューのJunior Suite Executiveに宿泊しましたが、赤を基調にしたコンテンポラリーアートでまとめたお部屋でした。部屋ごとに趣向が違うので、好みにあうインテリアかどうかは運次第。でも自分では絶対に買わないようなアート作品に囲まれてみるのもかえって楽しい。このお部屋のバスルームは2つ。一つはシャワーブースのみでウォークインクローゼットと繋がっています。母との宿泊でしたので身支度などにとても便利でした。収納もたっぷり。アメニティはクラランス。クラランスは結構気に入っているので使おうとしたらなぜか、ボディローションが余分にあってコンディショナーがない。ハウスキーピングが夜にも来るので言えばもらえます。お水のサービスは炭酸とナチュラル750mlを1本ずつ。2日目に初日にナチュラルが残っているのをコーヒーテーブルに移動しておいたのに新しく補充をしてくれませんでした。あと、せっかく素敵なお庭と湖が眺められるバルコニーがあるのに、コーヒーポット、ティーポット等のサービスはなし。くつろいで部屋で温かいものを飲みたいと思っても、なぜかルームサービスのメニューにも載っていませんでした。水5フランとかは載っているのに。きっと頼めば出来るのでしょうが、ちょっと他がこれだけ気を使っいるホテルなのに手落ちのように思いました。残念!!それで絶賛ばかりしてもとサービスを4にしました。オーナーの女性が美術品のコレクターなので、レストランにも仏像があったり、バリ、インド、日本の琳派の屏風など東洋のものとクラシカルな西洋絵画、そして主にスイスの現代アートの彫刻作品などが、とても素敵に多数コーディネートされています。これまた惜しむらくは、スタッフの方がそのことを誇りに思っているも、知識がないことでしょうか?4階の廊下の彫刻はジャコメッティだと教えられ、ちょっと違うと思ってビックリだと言ったが、庭にもあると言うので確認したらルガノ出身のivo soldini という作家だった。同じくルガノが誇るNag Arnoldi(Piazza Alessandro Manzoniにもある。)の作品も庭にあって、下世話だけど、これだけの美術品の金額に囲まれて宿泊できるのだからホテル代として安いと思う。本当に素敵にセンスよくまとまっており上質な時間を過ごせました。朝食はフルーツもタルト類も豊富で綺麗。でもスイス全般に言えることだけど野菜がほとんどない!!その分フレッシュジュースが3、4種類あります。

It was a beautiful hotel with a lot of history. Very traditional, look with many amenities and great restaurant. The views from the room of Lake Lugano were breathtaking. I would strongly suggest this hotel if you’re staying in Lugano.

Rundum ein gelungener Aufenthalt. Warme, sehr angenehme Atmosphäre, gepflegte Umgebung. Sehr aufmerksames, freundlich und diskretes Personal. Schöne Ausstattung der Zimmer, sehr gute Betten.

Wunderbares Zimmer im 4. Stock, sehr schöne Sicht auf den Monte San Salvatore. Leckeres Frühstück und herrliches Dinner. Das Spa ist sehr grosszügig, sehr gepflegt eingerichtet. Ein tolles Wochenende, das wir uns zum Hochzeitstag schenkten!

What a gorgeous property! Received an upgrade to a corner suite which was not only large but had spectacular lake views. Felt like royalty. Dined at Le Relais where both the food and service were excellent. The hotel is adjacent to a funicular and an easy walk to town. The staff are wonderful. A truly fantastic stay. Highly recommended!

This is a beautiful property filled with antiques and artwork. The staff was helpful and friendly. The grounds are magnificent and the spa is luxurious. The food and drinks were delicious. We even got an upgrade to a fancy suite! Why, I don't know. The place to stay in Lugano.

While the location and the service/staff are amazing, they gave us a room on first floor over the restaurant where the piano/mouse was annoying and the pets friendliness was also loud due to a dog constantly barking.

Review of Grand Hotel Villa Castagnola – A Complete Disaster. If I could give this place a negative rating, I absolutely would. From the very first day, the experience was nothing short of shocking for a so-called 5-star hotel. On arrival, we went for breakfast and waited over an hour for a simple omelette that never arrived. During that time, not even a glass of water was offered. We had a tight schedule and eventually had to walk out. After complaining at reception, the waiter actually chased me down in the lobby, screaming at me in front of other guests, as if I had walked out on the bill. Utterly humiliating and completely unacceptable. The following day, after a long day of sightseeing, I returned to the hotel bar to share a very special moment with my wife. I had planned a surprise—telling her I would be renewing our vows and celebrating her 40th birthday with family in Cartagena, Colombia. She was overwhelmed with excitement, but in the middle of this intimate, emotional moment, the bartender told us to “keep our voices down” because the piano player was performing. The bar was empty. Imagine being told to quiet down while celebrating such an occasion. Truly disgraceful. Finally, to top it all off, on the last day I received my dry cleaning back and discovered that two very expensive pairs of pants had been ruined. They had been washed instead of dry cleaned. No apology. No accountability. No contact from management. DO NOT STAY HERE. Save yourself the disappointment!!

We stayed for 4 nights. Wonderful breakfast, clean property, lake access was lovely. I run every morning and the area is clean and safe.

All around a great experience! Service was excellent and location very convenient.

Sehr gute Küche und freundliches Personal, Empfang, Gastronomie, Zimmerservice. Sauberes und schönes Zimmer, wunderbare Parkanlage, gutes Frühstück. Leider defekte Klimaanlage im Zimmer, 27 Grad zum Schlafen.

Tout était parfait sauf le check out mal organisé et trop lent!

Wonderful, beautiful, amazing. Einfach nur toll dieses altehrwürdige Luxushotel. Stilvolle, liebevolle Einrichtung mit herrlichem hoteleigenen Park. Besonders gefallen hat mir auch der zum Hotel gehörende Lido direkt am Luganer See. Sehr, sehr empfehelnswert

World class service… from the moment, I walked on the property to the moment I left. I felt well cared for.

The most exquisite hotel experience my husband and I have ever had. The staff went above and beyond, the grounds are impeccable, the lake views immaculate, and the amenities fantastic. We will definitely be back to beautiful Villa Castagnola.

Really enjoyable stay, one night easily became two and would certainly return for further visits.
