The quiet and very beautiful small hotel is situated in a valley near the northern coast of the island. The approach is partly steep, but otherwise unproblematic. The accommodation is very well connected to the other places on Madeira by a well driveable expressway - in only a few minutes you reach the southern "sunny side" of the island. All the sightseeings of the island as well as the hiking trails can be easily reached from this accommodation, whereby the north-east of the island is less well developed in terms of traffic.
Our room was very nicely and tastefully furnished - with a wonderful view to the rugged valley. The staff was extremely friendly and helpful, we immediately felt very comfortable. Since we don't need breakfast, we limited ourselves to coffee in the morning, which can be freshly prepared around the clock for free at a self-service counter. There is also fresh water, tea, a honesty-bar etc. In the evening you can warm yourself at a cosy fireplace.
We enjoyed our stay very much - and would book the "Solar da Bica" at any time again as accommodation.
