Nice room, well cooked breakfast friendly staff Harvey's beer, we will recommend this to our friends if they go to Lewes.

I stayed at the Blacksmith Arms for 1 night on the 6th July. I was advised by email the day before to say that there would be no-one there when I arrived via email. They sent instructions to obtain the key, the pub was closed and I was the only person staying there, I have since been advised that the pub was closed on Mondays & Tuesday’s. Had issues sorting the TV out and after a while realised the aerial was unplugged. No breakfast available and via email was advised of somewhere I could get an evening meal. Poor in my opinion and I won’t be staying again.

Great place for a short stay, Jazz is a good host. Excellent breakfast. Will be there again

I hadn't expected a cool reggae B&B with Jamaican menu choices for dinner alongside a full English breakfast before heading off the next morning. All very enjoyable and will definitely consider again.

Convenient for Glyndebourne

We stayed in the hotel for one night in a visit to Glyndebourne. It is a nice pub The rooms were very clean and in very good condition. Good showers. The Full English breakfast was excellent ! We didn’t spend much time in the hotel but willl stay as again on our future visit to Glyndebourne next year.

Good location to explore the South Downs from and not too far from Lewes. Room was adequate for our short stay, comfortable bed and nice towels. A fan and fridge in the room would be nice additions. Room and bathroom could have been cleaner though lots of cobwebs spotted! The breakfast was fine but a little limited, cereals and full English the only offerings.

When we arrived after hot 120 mile journey we found the Blacksmith Arms closed despite a confirmed booking for that day for two nights!!! We knocked and rang them - no response. Had to sit outside by a busy main rd in 35° heat ringing local hotels. The next day we had an email from them saying they weren’t totally closed and the key was under the mat. Why didn’t we see their mobile no on the side door? We went to three doors and there was no message on any of them. Beware!!!

The staff and room were lovely. Bathroom fine but maybe would benefit from updating. Quirky pub with Jamaican influence. Great restaurant. Small menu but Jamaican specialities really tasty. Loving the rum infused custard

Very noisy room due to proximity to the road and a field full of sheep across the road. Parking can be difficult. Breakfast buffet limited.

Very pleasantly surprised this is an absolute gem of a find. Easy access to Brighton by bus or car. Clean and comfortable rooms and great food. I’m a pescatarian so don’t eat meat so they are missing a trick with the Jamaican fayre as Mac & Cheese would have gone down well however great price and warm welcome and will come back again probably before the summer is finished.

Very nice and clean rooms. Friendly and helpful staff. Although I didn’t eat here the Jamaican menu looked very appealing.

Check in was quick and easy. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Whole place was clean. Room was clean and tidy, bed comfy and decent bathroom. Evening food is predominately Jamaican/Caribbean themed - very tasty - the Jamaican goat curry was the best goat curry I have had to date. Breakfast is cereals and a cooked English breakfast - we were a bit disappointed by it to be honest, 1 rasher of bacon, 1 sausage, 1 egg, some beans and mushrooms with two slices of thin brown bread (no choice of white given). We also had to ask for tea - it wasn't offered. Given the lovely evening meal we had, we were expecting a slightly better breakfast experience - may be a re-think on breakfast? Grounds could do with a bit of a tidy up. Pls don't let my "observations" put you off - it's a lovely pub (B&B) run by lovely staff and wonderful evening food. If we were to go back to Lewes again, we wouldn't not stay there again. Local taxi ride £10 into Lewes. By a busy main road so you do hear a lot of traffic in the evening and early morning.

Clean,comfortable room and bathroom. Tea,coffee,water and biscuits as well as toiletries provided . Food and service excellent. Given the usual friendly welcome on arrival. Lovely place to sty
