The room was very clean & pleasant and the staff were very friendly & helpful

The one outstanding aspect of the breakfast had over 4 and 5 star hotels I’ve stayed in is that it was cooked to order and arrived , delivered to the table hot rather than having to self serve out of steel trays where the food had been standing under hot lamps for who knows how long and was lukewarm at best Great stuff Lighthorseman

Staff friendly but didnt know what they were doing. Place run down, no food available in the evening and breakfast was no option, get what your given. With no dairy free option

Stay was great. Not 5 star but good value for money.

Perfect place to stay in York! The staff is very friendly, food is amazing, veggie breakfast was one of the best I ever had! Double room we stayed at was spacious, clean and quiet. Located in a walking distance from the center.

Food lovely. Staff helpful. This is a small pub with some rooms above. Bar may have shut at 22:30 but pool room noisy until after 2am our first night.

Our one night stay was very good value for money and the cooked breakfast superb.Very friendly host.Not too far to walk into the city centre along the riverside.

Room was very clean and the employees were nice. Breakfast and food served in the pub was average. It's a manageable walk to the centre. It was a little loud and cramped, but this was to be expected booking a small room in a pub. The bathroom could use an update, also, to be expected in an older building. I knocked off points because we said we didn't want housekeeping, but they entered our room anyway. This is a boundary that should be respected.

Clean enough.. food was of a good standard but a very dated hotel could do with freshening up furniture and fittings

A nice walk into town by the river was a highlight. Excellent hotel service and breakfast. Would definitely stay here again.

Great weekend stay at The Lighthorseman, spotlessly clean room and bathroom, landlord and staff most welcoming, huge breakfast! Decent selection of food on menu. Walkable distance to the city centre but there is a bus stop about 5 minutes away and taxis are plentiful. I would definitely recommend.

Ups: centered, convenient, free parking, quiet, Victorian style, walking distance from the shambles and major attractions and some other things. The cons: open until 3 pm, some weird noises from the walls, thin walls and you can hear your neighbors, the teapot was dirty. The Ibar it’s open until 11. but at the end it’s a really nice place to stay.

Great little find, very friendly staff. We opted for breakfast at an extra cost, glad we did, it was delicious and set us up for the day.

Manager was rude and insulting Room was fifthy, smelt foul, small, door lock broken, left feeling unsafe and shocked Pub is dirty, outdated with dirty tacky carpets. Very over priced Avoid A Positive point was the young male on reception, Finn who was helpful and a polite youngman
