A special thanks to the team here - I'd gotten lost walking the wall (a recurring theme on this trip). They called me as dark approached, and sent someone out to find me and pick me up - a not-quite-so-uncommon occurrence from what I was told. They even kept the kitchen open a bit late for me, which I sincerely appreciated. The food (breakfast and dinner) was also excellent, the room was clean and comfortable, and I was provided with directions and a steer back to the trail the next morning. They really go above-and-beyond here.

Absolutely top recommendation for The Bowes Hotel! Everything was perfect, great room (Pottery Room for us), great staff, great beer, great food, great location. Absolutely nothing we did not like apart from leaving. A first visit which I really hope will not be our last. Great work by the team here.

We stayed on a Saturday night. Dinner was excellent, homemade fair price. Definitely recommend reservations for dinner. Breakfast was enjoyable, staff was pleasant and the conversation with other hotel guests allowed us an opportunity to meet the other hotel guests and gain the insights of their home countries. This stay is highly recommended.

It was a lovely room and the staff were very welcoming. The breakfast was fantastic.

From our friendly welcome, where we we recognised from our previous visit a few years ago, to our farewell when we were virtually waved off, it was a great stay. The room was clean, well decorated and so warm, to see the frost and ice on our car when we opened the curtains, was quite a shock. The bed was soft and comfortable and we both slept very well. Breakfast, mine the full English, my wife, porridge, was excellent. In every respect we thoroughly enjoyed our stay and will happily go again when we visit the Hexham area.

We were in the area to visit Hadrian's wall. This hotel is an ideal base and close to many sites. Comfortable room and great food for breakfast and dinner. Staff friendly and welcoming. Would stay here again.

Quiet location just off A69 very handy for Vindolanda. Clean modern rooms. Friendly helpful staff.

Lovely Hotel, surrounding area beautiful too. Close to Gateshead & A69, but so peaceful. Rooms are lovely, and food and service to match , will return for sure.

We had a lovely time here. We were driven to the starting point of the walk by Catherine, who was fab. Food was delicious, and the room was very cosy and clean.
