For the price, and transparent 2 star rating, and basic amenities, it was what I expected. I appreciated the free parking on site. The staff were helpful. One area for improvement is communication. I had phoned twice in the evening to advise the hotel to advise of my later arrival time due to travel issues, and neither of my calls were answered. Since availability of reception is limited to the opening hours of the pub, I'd encourage the establishment to monitor the phone if they have guests booked who haven't checked in yet. Thank you!

Shocking, even at the price point of £40:00. No matching bedding, toilet ran all Night. The System continued fill with water. The furniture was way passed its sell by date, two of the drawers had NO BOTTOM to them. The pillows were very thin, I have thicker pillow protectors at home. The best thing was it was 4 minutes walk to the train station to get away and back to LONDON. Oh and did I mention the pigeons in the hotel loft space. Sorry to say I would not stay there again.

For the price you are getting a private room and private bathroom, you can come and go as you please all which I found ideal, location is also good. Clean bed and linen, clean towels, good shower. No TV, staff won’t help, never fixed or alternative provided, requested reasonable 10-15% refund no response or reply. Grubby, level of cleanliness is poor, wash basin, drawers, stairs into property etc. Toilet cistern runs continuously making noise. Very noisy at night, constant repeated door slamming from pub attached, quiet in the morning. If you can stand the above then okay for the price …

Perfect location. Bus stop and train station are close by. Property run down and in need of repairs. You get what you pay for! No internet in the rooms only in the pub next door. Can hear pigeons outside and sounded like something was in the loft.

I have stayed before , it’s very cheap and it’s en suite , I would stay agsin for price - they have an issue in the loft pf the property with vermin either rats or pigeons I have noticed that every time I have stayed - the pub is nice and serves great food downstairs - the rooms just feel like an after thought and not really a hotel .

The accommodation was basic, there was no chair in the room and only one light switch was put on all the lights. A bit cold in the night. The chef was on holiday so no food was available. Very handy for the station.

I have stayed before in this place - just on this occasion very slow to get in my room and no towels and it was dirty this time . I would stay again though

When we first arrived in our room, the stands and some of the floor were covered in bird feces. The girl from the bar came up and cleaned the areas, then I wiped them down with an antibacterial cloth. The room was hot and stuffy, though the window had been open, which is how the pigeons got in. There was no fan available to move any of the semi cool air from outside into the room, nor was there any air moving, so the room remained hot and stuffy all night. There wasn't even a fan in the bathroom! The TV did not work, we could get sound, at times, but no picture. We did get internet. There was a store across the road. The room was spacious and "clean". I'm not sure if the bed was comfortable, as we didn't sleep well, if at all due to the extreme heat and stuffiness of the room.

A very good country pub, good food and a very restful overnight stay. Highly recommended.

🌟 Locomotive Hotel Review - A Journey into the Abyss 🌟 Having just completed a 6-hour pilgrimage from Essex to the promised lands of Eaglescliffe, I've discovered what can only be described as Fawlty Towers' unsuccessful younger brother. The Locomotive Hotel is, quite frankly, a masterclass in how to disappoint guests while simultaneously making Premier Inn look like The Ritz. For the bargain price of £40, you too can experience what I can only assume is a social experiment gone wrong. The room comes complete with three different types of wallpaper (clearly inspired by the BBC's Changing Rooms circa 1998) all unified under a hastily applied coat of magnolia - because nothing says "we care" quite like paint that matches your nan's living room. The bed appears to have been made by someone fleeing a crime scene, while the TV is so small I initially mistook it for a calculator. There's a desk without a chair - perhaps it's art installation commenting on the futility of work? Or maybe the chair is simply having a gap year finding itself in Ibiza. The bathroom features a creative wall installation where previous guests have contributed to a collaborative art piece involving toilet paper and a hole in the wall. There's also a deceased fly stuck to the window - I've named him Geoffrey and we've become quite close. The room's piece de resistance is the kicked-in door that's been "repaired" with

The hotel was fine for what was paid for , it’s a busy pub and nice restaurant and feels like the rooms are an after thought not really the focus of the business . The staff were polite , the area was nice with amenities nearby . I would stay again

The TV did not work and staff unable to fix. The pub was very basic and did not sell real ale, so I watched TV in the pub without a drink! Rooms adequate but single bed very short for the taller person. Not much in the vicinity, unless you go into Stockton.

This is above a pub 2 minutes from the station. Eaglescliffe is a nice place to stay though there isn't much around the station to look at. The hotel is a bit basic but clean and good value for money.

The electrics felt like i was going to rip them out of the wall as they were not secured in correctly. there were huge cobwebs and dust gathered quite a few places. The shower had a broken hose. The flap to the chimney bangs every time it is slightly windy so don't bother getting any sleep!! Where can i add photos?
