We chose this lodge hotel because all the other hotels nearer to Edinburgh was too expensive. But the location wasn’t convenient for those who don’t have a car. The first night, because it was Sunday, the closest train station’s train ended very early, and we had to use the farther station, Livingston South, instead of Livingston North. We asked the hotel to send a taxi to the station. It was raining and cold and we had to wait for a while. The next morning, it was Monday, we walked to the closer train station, Livingston North, about 10min walk, and the train was nice and punctual. So, if you use trains, be careful with the train schedule. Especially on weekends. On the way back to the hotel, we rented a car at Waverly station, it wasn’t that bad. The room was small, but OK enough. The shower had no problem. Wifi was good.

Beer was flat in the main bar Window didn't open in my room, was told somebody would come, nobody did. Ordered breakfast when i arrived, reception didn't bother telling kitchen!! Probably one of the worst stays i've ever had.

Amazing place to stay in very friendly staff

Nice staff, clean room, very comfortable, checked in at 11pm with no issue. Fantastic price. Perfect for an overnighter near Edinburgh.

The shower sealant was mouldy. The shower had zero water pressure. The toilet roll holder wasn’t properly attached to the wall and fell off. The door to the bathroom wasn’t the right size and hit the floor when you tried to open it, which is dangerous. The door to the bathroom also didn’t close properly and could only be closed if it was locked. The mattress was a box spring and clearly at the end of its life because we could feel every single spring throughout the night. The room lacked visible sockets for hair dryer or straighteners. There was no box to leave the key in when checking out. There was no staff on th desk either so I had to email and phone to ensure the key was received back.

Room was very clean although too hot. Reception and restaurant staff very helpful and courteous. The only down side with the room was no chair the rooms need to have a chair as sitting on the bed is not comfortable.

The room was adequate. Pretty small. Noisy traffic Fresh clean bedding and towels. Reception staff lovely and helpful. For the price it was acceptable.

My honest review is this is a no frills hotel, but still a good one. The people working here are hard workers and very kind and generous with their time. Tracy and Julie particularly went out of their way to make sure my mum and me were comfortable during our stay. The food was good and the pub had great energy. Overall, if you’re okay with a bit of a small room this place is great for the value.

That’s one of the best hotels I’ve been to! What more could you ask for? A clean room, a safe place, a perfect restaurant with tasty food and perfect portions, and all at an affordable price! I’ve received two orders from Shein and thanks to the wonderful staff, they kept them safe and handed them to me upon my arrival! 😊 Literally all the staff are super friendly - the baristas, the restaurant’s waitress, room service, and the receptionist! And guys, they give you a chocolate with mint like a coin, it’s so cute (compliment, actually!) and tasty ☺️ Thank you for the perfect stay!

A "value for money" and clean facility. Good Pizza at the restaurent completed my stay.

Very friend staff. I stayed in room 12 which was lovely and clean. No stains on carpets or walls. Clean toilet and shower. Free tea, coffee and biscuits in room. Bed sheets where clean, even a litte chocolates on the pillows. No horrible smells in the room, and a good size tv. Amazing for the price. I would definitely recommend. Close to livingston centre, and st Johns hospital.

Parking was fine receptionist was lovely room looked clean with fresh bedding then when my husband moved 1 off the pillows there was a flea on the other pillow which he killed was full of blood on further inspection another 2 fleas where on the double bed we left next morning and did not stay for the full weekend that we booked

Well I paid less than £35 for a single room only arrangement and it was worth it. Room was ok, nice and warm,car parking and reasonable WiFi. About the only thing that I noted that the shower head was quite black and needed cleaning, didn't bother me because it was a good deal for the price.
