Charming but a bit inconsistent. Staff were mostly wonderful but a couple were unprofessional. Breakfast was either good and what you asked for, or mediocre and completely wrong. The room was either serviced well or someone had walked in, changed the loo roll, left cleaning products in the bathroom and walked out. It COULD be brilliant, the gardens are beautiful, beds are comfy and clean, some of the staff are fantastic and we'll miss it but they need everyone to be as good as Liam!

The room was very clean and had just been renovated, making it feel much more comfortable. The front desk staff were not particularly friendly and could improve their customer service. However, the restaurant staff provided excellent service and deserve recognition. The swimming pool, sauna, and jacuzzi facilities were excellent. I would definitely recommend this hotel to my friends.

Lovely place, clean, some maintenance happening, but didn't disturb our 5 days. Breakfast had plenty choices including Eggs Benedict or Eggs Royale, restaurant, lovely food. Staff very friendly and helpful. 20min drive from Keswick, which was handy for more restauarants, bars and the boat trip was brilliant. Tennis Court, mini golf a bonus on-site and swimming pool was good size and good to cool down as weather was hot for our trip. Being Scottish, it would be nice to have bar open a bit later,overall stay was excellent, definitely would visit again.

Lovely hotel, absolutely massive with lots of areas and facilities. Room was huge!!!

Overall very good. Breakfast needs some work. Especially the cooked breakfast.

Male bar staff was poor and had no empathy with his customers. Female reception staff were the complete opposite.

The menu is very limited.

Breakfast was tasty, staff super busy but still really friendly and happy to help. If visiting when the weather is as hot as it is right now (June ‘26) ask for a fan and any windows to be kept open as there was no way to cool the room other than this.

Rooms were clean and tidy. Locations was excellent! Food was very good and locally sourced!

I have stayed here half a dozen times. Normally the with lads when we are out in the hills. Thought I’d fetch the wife as she’s never stayed. First few times a lot was very dated in mahogany very 80’s however it is getting an update & the last two times before this we got one of the very nicely refurbished rooms. Unfortunately this time we were outside in a secluded no. 70 room very dated so no doubt on the list for decorating but it was very poor light wise & the bathroom mirror light did not work. Quite a lot of cobwebs too which is a shame. Bed was comfy & for one night with all the facilities can’t really moan. Breakfast good as always too. I will fetch the wife again & hopefully get a newer refurbed rooms

We had the most amazing stay at the Castle Inn to celebrate my daughter's 21st birthday. The spa facilities were spacious and clean and we felt so relaxed there. The staff were friendly and super helpful - I brought a small shop bought birthday cake with me and the chef turned it into a work of art which was amazing and much appreciated by my daughter. We booked a classic double but were given a lovely big room with views towards the hills, space for comfy chairs and a very nice bathroom with a bath! The breakfast was really well done and we were looked after so well in the restaurant. If I was being picky, I would say the dinner menu wasn't that extensive so we only ate there one evening... but what we did have was cooked beautifully and was tasty. All together though, it was a brilliant stay and I would love to come back again soon.

All the staff, especially those in the bar/restaurant area were excellent. They were very accommodating, warm and friendly and nothing was too much trouble. Food was very good and reasonably priced. Room was lovely, although you do need some level of navigational expertise to find your room and your way around the hotel!

The hotel was ok. Customer Service needs improving in most areas. Hotel looking a bit tired.

Clean room, helpful staff and a nice breakfast selection. Slightly understaffed at times, but Liam saved the day. A nice guest lounge but not large enough for the guests wishing to enjoy an after dinner drink, chat or the garden view. And the bar is poorly positioned next to the kitchen and the far end of the dining/breakfast room.

Perfect place to stay. The hotel is great, staff very friendly and accommodating, breakfast was brilliant. The spa is a very nice added bonus. Pool, sauna, steam room, jacuzzi - just what you need after a long hike! Also has EV charging - £30 flat rate. I would 100% stay here again.

The room was very spacious and functional with lots of coffee, tea, soaps and towels. The room was quite clean but there was limescale build up on some parts of the bathroom. Staff was helpful but we had a breakfast
