Where to begin? We booked in for 2 nights—or so I thought! On the second day of our stay, we decided to forgo room cleaning since we were only there for one more night. I put the Do No Disturb sign in the door and we went out exploring for the day. At 3:30 I got a call from the manager saying that we had overstayed and they had gone into our room, packed our stuff and moved our bags to the lobby. It was my error thinking that I had booked 2 nights but he was quite short with me and I felt he was implying that we had deliberately overstayed (by putting the Do Not Disturb sign on). He claims someone tried to call earlier but could not reach me—they had no phone numbers for me but finally got my number because we made dinner reservations at the hotel restaurant the night before (which is a whole other story!) Seriously?? Since when does a hotel not have phone numbers for their guests? The manager said it was because we booked through Expedia (Hotels.cm)—in a very condescending way!! As it turned out, he did us a favour because we did not have to pay an exorbitant amount to stay at a very unfriendly place. We ended up staying in Fort William as an extremely friendly Premier Inn for 1/3 of the price!

Wir fanden die Unterkunft und das Personal super. Nur der Preis war für eine Nacht für den gebotenen Standard sehr hoch. Liegt wahrscheinlich an der Reisezeit. Ansonsten kann man die Unterkunft nur empfehlen

Perfect starting point for trips to the Isle. Dinner tastes spectacular.

We had such an amazing stay at the Cuillen Hills Hotel. First, the weather in Skye this week has been perfect, just gorgeous. The room was comfortable, we opted for a premier room with a view of the water and the Cuillens. The setting of the hotel, on the water with the mountains in view cannot be beat. The food was delicious. But most notably, the staff were so helpful and accommodating. I hurt my knee coming down the Storr and they went out of their way to help. Ice packs, room service, arranging a taxi to a meal, and more. Thank you to everyone there!

The hotel is located at a 10-15 minute walking distance from the centre of Portree. The views from the hotel breakfast room and terrace are amazing! The lobby and bar area are nicely decorated and furnished. Our room was clean, with a comfortable bed and renovated bathroom. Just a few improvements would make this hotel perfect: The breakfast service would be better if started at 7 am, since many customers leave early to continue their trip. Also, the dinner service ended quite early and the menu did not have enough suitable options for seafood allergics/vegetarians.

Nice hotel, free parking was nice. Close walk to town and several restaurants. Breakfast and dinner at hotel were really good.

Cuillin Hills is a beautiful elegant hotel. We had a room overlooking the sea and it was lovely. The staff was very attentive and breakfast was substantial and delicious.

This is a lovely hotel with a beautiful walking path just out the front door, great beds, wonderful staff.

My husband and I had stayed here in October 2024. The staff were friendly, helpful and professional. We did not have a great room, as it was facing the car park and it was the only available room on Expedia. However, the beautifully decorated lounge area with a roaring fireplace, overlooking spectacular views, soon made up for the flaws in our room. The restaurant is excellent! We had a wonderful evening meal and breakfast there. The staff were very friendly, efficient and attentive. The location of the hotel was perfect with beautiful views of Portree.

10/10. Dinner and breakfast were excellent. Room was perfect! Will stay again on our next trip to Scotland!
